Well if that’s the case and the Helicopter lost power/ lift then its really nothing the pilot could have done.

A lot of people don’t understand that Helicopters are not made to fly. Instead of creating lift through forward flight, they create their own through rotation of the blades. If that goes you have no forward movement or “airfoil” that naturally causes lift with high and low pressure forming on a wing.

in other words you drop like a brick out of the sky and there is nothing you can do.

METAR not letting me paste, but....

Basically saying, no wind or gusting, 2 1/2 SM which below VFR or visual flight regulations, and  HZ means hazey with an overcast of 1,100 feet.

not ideal weather, but they can fly in it according to regulations.

Just awful. I feel terrible for the family. Kobe losing his life at 41 is far too young, but the loss of his child bothers me a lot more
