The issue is always cost and value versus need. You know we need to keep looking for tackles and guards as well as DTs on the defense. They are givens. But we also need a  big corner who is fast and physical to play man on the outside. Jackson is made for the slot not the outside where he get roasted over the top because he isn't long enough to defend the pass like Bradberry. So we have bookend tough corners like we had with peanut and Josh the last time out secondary was decent. It makes the defensive line so more effective. More than the pass rush makes porous zone effective when there are three open receivers on every play.

We could also use another LB (now), Maybe a TE, and another option at WR.. Just blindly choosing Linemen isn't going to change anything right away... We need development from players we already have on roster some FA add on's and maybe 2 to 3 picks..

Yep. Do you want the second best corner or the seventh best guard in the second round. It has to be best value at a position of need or such a good value that you have to take him at that spot. And if you do it right you try and fill your holes with free agents so you don't reach for a player in the draft.

Jesus christ really??

You know we could use FA as well right?

Sure, and what half decent OL/DL guy is coming here in FA without a big overpay? Or is more than a potential bandaid for a bad team next year?

A guy like McCoy last year came because he thought we would be good. A guy like Paradis got overpaid, and his former team seems to have known he was cooked. Matt Kalil...Matt Kalil. If this team goes rebuild mode, it's stupid to sign good FAs on the line who's contracts will be up by the time this team is good again.

These are just other examples of why I think Tepper/rhule want to nuke things from top to bottom and start afresh.  The mediocre comments coupled with the 5 years makes me think that this paying for free agents and hoping method is gone and the steeler way of drafting and developing talent is the way to go.   There is really no reason to bring back Mccoy or butler.

Thank god. We're already loaded at OLBs. Good at RB & WRs.

I say take a Jerry Jones approach: draft OL after OL after OL.

WRs?   We have Moore and Samuel?  Samuel should be a slot.  I think a top WR would make them elite.

Unless serious value drops at CB/WR/LB, the entire first 4-5 rounds need to be OL/DL

This is how 2/3 years later you get super thin at another position.

Also ask gringson how just drafting o-linemen blindly in a panic worked out for him

He'll ask Hurney how picking DT blindly worked out for him
