Nice rant. I live in Boston. My issue with a new stadium is BoA is in a perfect location, still in very very good shape and is setup to play football the way it was meant to be—on grass and outdoors. Couldn’t care less about the other aspects of it. Of course new stadiums are inevitable at some point and can be very good. But odds are Tepper wants a dome with turf which sucks.

Well I can see your point then. I like outdoor stadiums too. But I also don’t think it’s changing locations at all. Charlotte is a perfect place for it right on the border and biggest city in the two states. Taxes may be lower elsewhere but the revenue for big time events will only come from Charlotte.

There are some nice things but I can’t wait to get out of here... too many damn people, traffic, etc. pain in the ass

the traffic is atrocious.  one reason why i liked visiting "the walking city", you can avoid it by walking, but only through the spring and fall.  you can keep that cold, hahaha

LOL, then why do you care so much about what we're paying for with our taxes? The average taxpayer won't feel any of this. IF they live near the stadium, they'll probably have higher property taxes due to their home value increasing, but that's a good problem to have for most people. The current soccer team commitments are all from hospitality revenue, so it's coming from people visiting the city. This is exactly what that money should be spent on, more things to bring more people into the city.

I highly doubt Tepper’s new stadium will even be in Charlotte so not really sure what your point is here... And there are many who don’t feel the same way as you and it doesn’t matter how much it is, being forced to pay extra taxes that people don’t want to pay is unjust. And I don’t really care that much was just pointing it out.

Building permits show preparations are underway at Bank of America Stadium to make it MLS ready. A source close to the project tells WCCB there will be owner suites on the field in the end zones. They’ll be open-air, with an air conditioning option, a bar, and a restaurant. Fans in the suites will be able to watch the players run out to the field in a new tunnel with a glass wall.

The building permit allows for interior demolition to offices and a referee room. Including demolition of some seating.

Tepper will be able to have the best of both worlds—BoA for soccer and big events. And a new stadium elsewhere for the Panthers. He’ll be reeling in the dough. I don’t see him keeping the Panthers in Charlotte long term, although I agree 100% that he should.

im from scottsdale and also lived in downtown phoenix and live in charlotte now and charlotte is way more expensive if you live in uptown

‘If you live uptown’

So you’re comparing a small section of one major city to the next? Charlotte is a banking business city, no one wants to live downtown except these guys.

Compare the fact Phoenix has no NFL. It’s in a shitty desert with absolutely nothing to offer. Charlotte is much MUCH more prime of a city. You made my point. Unlike your shitty desert areas where living downtown is preferable, the most beautiful places to live are outside of Charlotte, not downtown.

Good weather, mountains that aren’t desert rocks, beaches...nicer city. You can by far get a nicer house in a nicer city with better climate in Charlotte for cheaper (in the suburbs) than what you’d get in AZ.

I’ve lived in 20 other cities and in Scottsdale for a year. Out of those 20, Raleigh (less to offer, other than Austin (less to offer) Huntsville Alabama (nice but way less to offer), parts of Minneapolis (even though it’s fuging freezing) there is no better place to live when you’re talking all around for the price and taxes. But don’t take my word for it, go do the research on best places to live and dig deep. The experts agree or more like I agree with them. It’s not a secret. It is one of the best places to live and invest for a reason.

Don’t know how long it’s been since you moved but Everything west is exploding price wise Charlotte is much better option.

there is some land near uptown that has been rumored to be available.  i really hope the new stadium will be uptown, as the skyline in the background makes for some nice views.  if it is moved near fort mill, more revenue could be generated from parking and if they do it right, it could be a lot easier to leave games as compared to uptown.  pros and cons for both options.

Muh taxes!1!

You don't live here, and you don't seem to be very informed on the actual details of the situation, so I'll just take your post for the uninformed rant that it seems to be.

Arizona Cardinals.

I have nothing against Charlotte per se, but LOL @ your blind Charlotte homerism.

Here's an old image, but it gives you an idea of how close Charlotte Pipe and Foundry (the rumored land) is from the current stadium.
