USA Today 7 Round Mock. Hmm

I think we need to rank our needs

Then I think we need to identify the positions that are hard to come by (I call the rarity rating--for example, QB, LT, DE.... Explanation:  If you have a need at LT, WR, and DE and the WR is the best player on the board, you still may take the LT because they are harder to find.  In addition to getting the rare position, you probably get a player on a rookie contract that has a bigger salary on a second contract.  For example, if the average 4-3 DE in the league makes $8m and the average LT in the league makes $10m, the LT on a rookie contract saves the team $8m over 4 years (theoretical).

Then look at the draft's "drop off" points.  (for example, WR is deep--talent is strong in rounds 1 and 2, good in rounds 3 into the 4, and it drops off in the middle of round 4.  Result:  We could get a good WR in the fourth round.   QB:  strong: top 5, good: first round-mid second round Result:  Do not draft a QB unless Burrow falls.

Somebody could develop a computer software program that would crosswalk these factors and identify the best players to pick...
