If he wasn’t eligible then he wouldnt be nominated. I could be wrong but I’m pretty sure people have won who were hurt all or almost all of a season before. I think that bit is just to punctuate the “off the field” part. He’s been excellent on the field as well, and plenty of players who were very not excellent on the field have won before lol

I mean yeah, he’s been excellent but it’s an assumed sense of relevance to the year. 
 

You have a guy like Greg who was arguably the best TE in the game for at least 3 years on top of his off the field contributions and was snuffed 3 years in a row for the award. Would be  head scratching to see Cam win after his most abysmal season by far.
