Draft a QB but sit him a year?

What's the use in sitting quarterbacks their first year anymore in the modern NFL?

It's 2020.

Don't give up on  Kyle Allen yet because he proved he can win some  games even playing behind one of the worst offensive lines in the NFL. He had an impressive stretch during a four-game winning streak, completing 65.6 percent of his passes and throwing seven touchdowns and zero interceptions.

Even though things turned for the worse after that, partly due to poor offensive line play and injuries on the line as well, he was still able to hold his own most of the year. He showed he could be a competent starter, at times, and was able to keep the team alive against good opponents in hostile environments (at New Orleans, and Lambeau Field in the snow). Those efforts shouldn’t be forgotten because of how things unfolded in the second half.

It's more of our oline being crap and making sure they dont get killed the first year.  Was talking at work with a coworker. I didnt really agree as I prefer to spend this years first rounder on a offensive tackle.  But had me thinking it might not be a bad idea if the right QB fell.

Focus on building the OL and either roll with Cam (only if he's 100% healthy  at 20mil), pick up a serviceable QB, or draft a mid round QB and let Brady do some magic.

Don't want to invest too heavy in WB until we can do more to protect him.

Beef up the trenches and see what Cam can do his last year of his contract. There will be many options next year (extend Cam, sign and trade him, draft Lawrence, draft Fields, someone else has a “Burrow-like“ year and we draft them)

Gonna be bad when we end up with 6-7 wins, a 60-70% of what he once was Cam, and out of range of any of the QBs people want to tank for.

Then you take Jamie Newman. There are a good number of prospects in this coming draft.

He could easily be your Burrow-like prospect.  Very interested to see how he does in Monken's offense with serious talent around him.

They took away what Kyle did best and he couldn't adjust. He then implodes even when he had time. The massive amounts of turnovers is a huge concern going forward. I see what you want to see but that is long gone. I can't see him being a starter. He's a Matt Schaub, a back up now who could someday...be a backup. Once they scout you in the NFL you've got to overcome it or crumble.

Red beat me to it, but yeah, drafted QBs pretty much start from day one now. They might get yanked day two, but nobody sits behind the veteran to learn anymore.

Dumb.. we already have 2 that need to ride pine pending Cams health outcome!! Now Hurts is close to Cams playing style!! But what style does Brady bring!

If we draft a rookie QB, that means that he will start because Cam will be gone.

Tua’s very risky yes, but he could be worth the risk.
