We need to be wise with Cam

If he balls out and plays all 16 games, then yes, pay him. I'm hoping that he does, however people are getting butthurt at the mere possibility of Cam not being a Panther when its a very real possibility.

I think most are upset that many dont want to give him a chance this season and willing to trade him for basically nothing.

I'm reading this Jordan Gross interview with the Charlotte Observer. Can't help but be disappointed with some of it.

Noticing more and more the difference in tone discussing players like Cam and their future versus Luke Kuechly who is complimented for everything.

The longer this drags out the uglier it is going to get. The team needs to make it a priority to get in front and this and finally make a statement one way or another and stop allowing this to fester. Which is unequivocally what is happening.

When former players are coming out saying these things and the team continues to remain silent guys need to understand that other potential free agents are also seeing this and if you think the way Cam has been treated won't have an affect you are living a fantasy. Social media and that lens it brings with it is becoming more and more connected with sports now more than ever.

Whoever the future quarterback of the Panthers will be, there's no way that person won't be taking notice of how this has all transpired.

I missed this interview, what did Gross say?

I agree. It'd be nice for them to finally make a commitment one way or the other. Time is of the essence, however we don't exactly know the conversations the coaches have had with Tepper and with Cam. If we are just going to be left to speculate then obviously it isn't a good look on Cam's future with the organization because they are still taking this "wait and see, non-commital stance" but we won't really know until we know. And I'm sure Coach Rhule/Brady/Tepper all have a good idea on how this is going to play out. If they weren't sold on Cam being here for the futue I doubt he'd get a playbook or anything of that nature, and you'd think they'd have some sort of playbook put together before OTAs so I imagine within the next month-month 1/2 we should hear something more concrete. I hope so anyways.

One scenario in which they’d have an incentive to say nothing is if they are quietly shopping him with the intention to do so up until the draft. I could see them waiting to see if a team without a high pick that has no shot at the top qb prospects were willing to offer something substantial close to draft time. In that scenario they wouldn’t want to say anything one way or the other.

Doesnt seem super likely, but not completely out of the question either.

Wise?

Too late for that IMO.  Clever is about as good as we can shoot for at this point and to be clever means get whatever we can get now.  I'll take a mid 20's lineman on either side of the ball that has started for at least a dozen games and a third all day and twice on gameday.  But we will see what Hurney can do.  Everyone confident yet?

Wise would have been to relieve some perpetual bottom feeder like Cleveland, Jax, Tenn, Buffalo or Miami (2015)  of their next two or three first round picks about 5 minutes after the MVP was awarded.  We went the other way with the hundo-mill contract.  Oops.

But yeah, hey, I agree.. we should try to recoup in full for that mistake now.  Good luck to us!!
