If we trade Cam, does that mean we are going after "our guy" in the draft?

Who in this draft is our guy supposed to be? Seriously, is there anyone in this draft worth selling the farm for?

Desperation makes people do really dumb things, I just hope we don't get so desperate and dumb that we overrate some average Joe so much that we do that.

IMO not necessarily

Ive been repeating myself from various different posts, but I really think its a possibility we have a "recovery year", where we get rid of old guys, deal with and just take on all the dead cap we have to get it over with so to speak, and play young guys to see what we have, and to develop them. Not a true tank, not trying to lose on purpose via game plan, but putting a limit structurally roster wise for how good we can be so we get a high pick next year. So a productive tank so to speak.

Getting rid of Cam doesnt mean we are going after a guy for sure..  could be..  but it could also very possibly be the fact that we ate trying to get what we can for him while we still have the chance

I think when we move from Cam it doesnt mean we have our guy I think its just part of the elongated process Tepper has referred to.  Step 1.  Figure out your roster as it stands/  2. develop a plan 3. draft players that fit 4. develop

I dont think they do anything drastic this draft in regards to a qb.  There is no rush to "win now"

If we trade Cam, we're admitting we're in full on rebuild mode.

That should also mean that CMC and everyone else is up for grabs too.

If you're in rebuild mode, you liquidate any potential leverage you have for the next few years.

If we want to try to still be competitive, Cam Newton will be our QB in 2020 and beyond.

When is Cam suppose to be healthy enough to pass a physical? Nobody mentions this but how do we trade him for this upcoming draft when he’s still recovering from injury? I’d imagine this would be for next years pick(s).

Most reports say February or March.

Just now, Mr. Scot said:

Also possible.

Nobody knows for sure. It's just the expected projection based on the word of his doctors and medical experts.

I’m pretty sure we get two early extra weeks of ota’s because new coaching staff so that maybe where that came from.

No offense but I’m trying to figure out how anyone could look at a team that finished 5-11 and was non competitive after the midpoint of the season, then promptly lost the greatest MLB of his generation to retirement and expect that team to be competitive next year.

I think it’s a foregone conclusion we’re in rebuild mode for at least 2 years minimum, maybe longer.

Its quite baffling.  Factor in a first year coach and first year OC we are firmly on step one of a NFL rebuild.
