CBS sports projects Simmons post Luke.

Brown, Okundah, or Simmons should be our pick if we stay at 7.  Someone who is going to be good with a solid chance of being great. It’s the reason we took Luke when we had other needs and Beason on our roster. You have a few players Burrow, Young, Tua (injury risk), Brown, Okundah, and Simmons who are the cream of the crop. You take one with the 7 overall pick if they are there. Brown also feels a huge need, so he is my top pick. Simmons and Shaq would make an awaken LB combo in our base package. You would have to sign some big bodies to help them, but you instantly get one of the most talented LB groups in the NFL. They can blitz, cover and tackle.

I don't remember Brian being that big at New Mexico state.. But his speed was 4.6 at the combine.. if the kid comes in 12 pound lighter but .2 seconds faster .. He isn't making it to 7 anyway..

He'll have to run sub 4.4 to be .2 seconds faster.

I bet he runs low to mid 4.5s. Guys very rarely match the numbers claimed while in college when they get to the Combine. 40 times of college football are the heights of college basketball where all those 6'11" guys are all of a sudden 6'8.5" at the combine.

Like I say we will see.. But on tape the speed is clear to see..

Low to mid 4.5 speed is great for a LB. That's a tad faster than Luke.

I'm sorry we disagree.  

I think having a chess piece like him you can move all over the field and effect the game is like gold to a defensive coordinator..  Now I get to play a match up game with the offense at that point..

But I will be giddy with Brown, Okulad and 1 of the top 2 tackles as well.. I don't see a wrong move in this draft with any of these players..

How did he look in the national championship game? The modern game is neutralizing LBs by throwing the ball all over the place. It doesn't mean that he isn't a tremendous prospect, it's just that he plays a position of less importance in today's NFL.

Luke and Bobby Wagner were head and shoulders above any other MLBs in the NFL, yet both of their defenses in the bottom 10 in the NFL. No, it wasn't all their fault, it's just that those field general type LBs can't have near the impact that they used to.

Outside of that? Like I said, best player in the draft on defense. 

I won’t be unhappy with the pick.  I love Simmons. 

I just don’t know where this franchise is at the moment. Like I said, we got an owner talking about a big picture rebuild and sucking for a few years.....and then today we are talking about trotting out a team that features two NFL MVP caliber players on O.   

Simmons hands down if a true rebuild.   If we are trying to win in 2020 we need to address weaknesses

7 tackles  6 solo 1 sack and 4 pass breakups.. Not bad.. 

Still both Wagner and Luke were building blocks to good defense.. Maybe not every year but you do need them..

White did great for the bucs this year.. Bush held it down for a Steelers defense.. And if were running a 3/4 again  we still need a top notch middle LB duo...

A true hybrid in really both the Ohio St and LSU game.  Played everything.
