I’d argue BPA often does factor in need and we don’t do that enough

see Cam Newton.  Which was one of the few times we figured that out perfectly.  Most teams didn’t have Cam #1 in terms of BPA.  But we were coming off a Clausen season

Correct. I’ll say you have to mix the two in some cases . Esp if you need a Franchise QB .

EVERY YEAR

Half the board wants the best WR, will sell their soul for the best WR.  Why? Because they see them score TD's on TV.

Guys, it is a team sport, and we are very short on team right now.

For this draft or any, you want to get value.  Same as going to the store and get a $10 item for $7.

At our pick at #7, you want a guy that is valued ahead of your pick.  So if Brown, who many have ranked from 2-10 is there, you probably take him. Plus, it is a monster need.  If he is gone, then Simmons, who is ranked from 4-10 might just be the pick.  I have no idea what sort of defense we will be running yet, so will keep my powder dry on that one.

I would certainly disagree w taking a WR with our first pick.  No way that I would pick any WR with Brown or Simmons on the board.  Period.

Oh for sure. If you think there's a generational type talent, take him. I'm not THAT sold on Simmons though.

Simmons is a prototype modern NFL LB. He ain't playing safety.

He has the speed of a safety with DB coverage ability,  size of a 3/4  pass rusher, and thumps like a MLB.  He is a faster version of Urlacher.. That's generational to me.. jmo

Good lord, you're smitten. I think he's a fantastic prospect, but LOL.

Urlacher ran a 4.57 while carrying 30 more pounds than Simmons. People seem to forget that in terms of size, Urlacher looked more like a weakside 4-3 DE than he did a LB. Dude was HUGE. He was basically Cam Newton at MLB.

He isn't Shaq or Stew.  This is a different type of player.. Shaq and Stew were still prototype players for their position.. This guy is a above prototype player for 4 position..

I’ve watched every game he has played in college.  He is awesome.

I mean if it a true rebuild? Yeah, take him. No doubt.

But the talk from our org IMO right now has me not knowing what is going on.  I find the type rebuild Tepper talking about not jiving with a team about to role with Cam/CMC.  I mean what NFL teams has two MVP caliber dudes on O talking about we are going to be really bad for awhile.

I do think in this draft you could get what generally is a first round caliber WR in the 2nd.  Tons of good WRs.  Defiantly don’t want one in the first but there could be crazy value in the 2nd IMO

I promise brother.. If he comes to the combine adding 10 to 15 pounds and still runs a low 4.4 forty .. This won't even be a discussion worth having.. He's gone before we pick anyway at that point...

Urlacher wasn't 260 coming into the league. He was smaller or close to the same size and weight as Simmons is now...I don't know where you're getting your info from..

Last check Simmons is 230lb now and running in 4.4's

Simmons probably will have a freak combine.  I mean, I’m a homer but I think he is the best defensive player in the draft. DE often more impactful and it’s close but he is a better football player IMO than Chase

but still likely a LB.  and most teams don’t view them like us.  Even the freaks

Urlacher weighed in at 258 pounds at the 2000 NFL Combine.

Again if you consider him a generational type talent.. (Like I do).. You grab him and figure it out after that..
