Should the Panthers go all in on Joe Burrow?

If you have the ability to draft someone like Joe Burrow, you do it.  Let the chips fall where they may.  A franchise QB can cover up many glaring holes on a team.  Yes, the O-line sucked last year, but our tackles were injured and very young.  Players do develop, and there is Free agency.

Nobody is saying trade 2 firsts for a corner. A better comp would be them trading their future first for Goff or the eagles doing it for Wentz.

They already have their young franchise QB. They thought they were a piece away and went all in on a CB.

The point that was made, which is correct, is that giving up multiple first round picks sets you back too much in the NFL.

The same applies for second round picks too.

There are just too many ways to build a competitive team to mortgage your future in the nfl

And are we just not planning on filling the defensive side of the ball or?

It’s ignoring the point that the way they got their franchise QB was by trading their first the following year to move up. Which is what you are saying has set them back. Though I’m sure Eagles and Rams fans are plenty happy where that got them.

I’m not a big fan of Burrow and I’d prefer Lawrence next year but if we were to do it to pair him with Brady, I’d trade #7, Cam and next year’s first. Doubt the Bengals would do that but I wouldn’t want to give up much more than that.

What????

Wilson broke records at NC State

Not saying he was bad, but the guy compared to college QBs then and now, was never talked about like Burrow or other top QBs while at State. He was looked at then as good but not great. He had an impressive streak of passes without an interception. One of the best in the ACC if not the best QB in his time there...but not in the national conversation while at NC State.

I mean, the important guy we’re forgetting that we can work with the Lions to get is Tua.

if he checks out medically, then he is worth the trade up to 3 but I do get why many will exhibit caution. The talent with him is too good IMO.

Joe Brady and Tua Tag

What would it take to go from 7 to 3?

According to value charts, our second and a future 3rd-4th. I think that’s worth the risk especially if we’re trading Cam and getting more draft capital.

This

I think Tua was a much better prospect than Burrow

Obviously now there's some risk, but moving up to 3 wouldnt take nearly as much

Moving to 3 is the play in my mind as well. Brady gets the QB oft compared to Drew Brees, the player Brady spent time with in NO developing his offense around.

Also, to those saying what about the defense and O-Lines....if we do nothing were still going to have a shitty line and a shitty D.  Next year is probably going to be a struggle regardless of who we have at QB.  Might as well go grab your hopeful franchise QB this year, and build the rest of the team around him, rather than building the rest of the team and hoping we're ever in the position to draft a top guy again.

Hurney drafted Grier thinking he would be a top guy. Let that sink in.

I'm undecided on the "should" part.

Is he a franchise quarterback? Don't know, but there's definitely evidence to suggest he is.

He'd be working under an offensive coordinator whose system he obviously knows and could be successful in.

What would it take to get him? An arm and a leg would probably just be the down payment.

And once that's done, you still have to protect him. How do you do that with the resources you have left?

This is basically a "Gift of the Magi" type question, and not an easy one to answer.

The one thing I do feel comfortable saying? I believe Tepper would do it. He's not shy at all about going after what he wants.
