Updated Cap Moving Forward & Free Agent Priorities....

I still have faith that Tepper has a plan to hire a better pro talent evaluator to replace Hurney, in the near future. He usually makes his plays a couple of days after we bring out the pitchforks, as happened with Rhule and Brady. Keeping my fingers crossed because I don't want another Hurney Free Agency.

does cutting RB Mike Davis and or Graham Gano save us a large amount?

Graham Gano would save just over 1M (IMO he's better than Slye)

Mike Davis release saves, 3M (I honestly forgot about him during the evaluation since he joined us so late, will update OP)

dump poe...first one out the door

paradis right behind him, but if his cap hit is not terrible, keep him another yr...but for sure we need to replace him...he sucks

sign bradbury...spend the cash to do so

boston on a team friendly deal only

cant believe we are still paying kalil...i hope gettleman hires shula in NY and suffers even more

We’re stuck with paradis. I would be the first to get rid of him, but his cap situation prohibits it.

If Luke, and I think he can be, is designated a june 1st cut, that 11 M dead cap number goes to 4M and we gain an extra 7M in cap space.  In this case I don't see why you wouldn't do that.

Playing devils advocate, since cap space can be rolled forward, if we’re taking a long term approach, biting the whole bullet rather than just part of it now, rather than later might be advisable.

Wont Littleton be more than Shaq money wise?

Littleton accounted for 3M in 2019, he's 26 years old

I'd say on the market he's probably eyeing the 7M+ range per year -- I don't think that's a move we pull the trigger on with the opportunity to draft a guy like Simmons.

I think it would make more since to sign a quality FA at ILB as insurance for the draft, unless you're comfortable with either,

  • Jermaine Carter Jr.
  • Andre Smith

Both guys going into their 3rd years, and much more cap friendly (this may be a see what we have season for one of them, Smith had early draft pedigree pre-collegiate injury)

Then if Simmons is the pick you don't have a chunk of cap tied up in the ILB position, and can move on / extend as needed.
