Luke wants to keep working with the Panthers...Brady/Kuechly coordinators?

I think even with a football IQ of Kuechly's unprecedented level, it's probably advisable for him to work his way up the ranks a bit rather than just immediately from player to cordinator. I'm thinking specifically of how Mike Singletary, despite being an all time great, flamed out as a head coach when he was promoted prematurely into a job he didn't have the proper preparation for.

Start Luke at LB coach and let him grow into coaching, if that's the path he chooses. Personally if I were him I'd take a few years off and enjoy being young and rich. I'm not into fishing at all, but that seems to be something he loves. There's a ton of fish out there, and once you start coaching, it's a huge time sink.

It’s sad this even needed to be said but this is the Huddle

Like is a Rivera guy.

The only thing Rivera did really well is foster loyalty from his players. He couldn't make them winners, but he could make them loyal to him.

Wouldn't surprise me one bit that 1) Rivera getting fired hastened his retirement plans and he probably would be playing next year if Rivera was still here and 2) that he will be joining Rivera in some capacity next year.

Yea I could definitely see him as a (hopefully our) LB coach to start for a few years. DC down the road a bit for sure if he wants to.

This is a little off topic, but what's up with Fewell? He did a great job with the secondary this year and has a good deal of DC experience. after being named interim HC, I thought he was a shoe in for DC.

If Luke, who is one of our all time heady players and fan favorites, wants to remain part of the Panthers organization, my guess is that Tepper and Rhule will find a spot for him that pays well since money seems to be no issue with Tepper.

And money is no issue with Luke, either.  He is walking away from, what, a $10Million salary this year.

I think he values the Panthers higher than he does Rivera, too, so where's the hurdle there?

So, if the report that he wants to stay with the Panthers is correct (note he didn't say "stay in football"), and you combine that with his phenomenal ability to diagnose plays and knowledge of assignments, and his devotion to film study, plus as was said, the trajectory of Vrabel's career --- voila!

I'd bring in Wade as DC for a year, start Luke as LB coach (intern?? how demeaning), then after he picks up all he needs to learn from watching Wade, make him DC.

Maybe Rhule has had a LB coach in mind, but that has to be rethought, if Luke's available and willing.

Hell, I'd still yell Luuuuuke every time the D made a stop.

Yea I dunno. I wouldn’t hate the move, but wouldn’t love it. He did a good job with the secondary, but I think I’m really ready for fresh faces and a new direction.
