Luke wants to keep working with the Panthers...Brady/Kuechly coordinators?

I think even with a football IQ of Kuechly's unprecedented level, it's probably advisable for him to work his way up the ranks a bit rather than just immediately from player to cordinator. I'm thinking specifically of how Mike Singletary, despite being an all time great, flamed out as a head coach when he was promoted prematurely into a job he didn't have the proper preparation for.

Start Luke at LB coach and let him grow into coaching, if that's the path he chooses. Personally if I were him I'd take a few years off and enjoy being young and rich. I'm not into fishing at all, but that seems to be something he loves. There's a ton of fish out there, and once you start coaching, it's a huge time sink.

100%. LB coach is the right move and an easy transition for him if he excels.

I think he should take some time away as well but all I've ever heard about Luke is that football is his love. Like even the fishing I think is him trying to force himself to expand his hobbies. This was clearly a hard decision for him and I'd be shocked if he stepped away from the game completely.

Yes, Klemko reported this morning that he wants to stay with the Panthers in some capacity. I don't know what that means though.

He will be our version of Terry Tate, office linebacker.  Every time Hurney does something stupid, Luke will be deployed to lay the hurt.

Great players don't always make great coaches, but among the things that made Kuechly such an amazing player were his attention to detail, his devotion to film study and his ability to figure out what offenses were doing. That kind of profile has "defensive coach" written all over it.

Immediately making him a coordinator or even a linebacker coach might not be realistic (Rhule reportedly already has a linebacker coach in mind) but the Panthers could bring him on as a coaching intern of some sort and have him work his way up from there.

One possible monkey wrench, though...

Ron Rivera might have the same idea.

The possibility does exist that even if the Panthers make an offer, Rivera might make one too, maybe a better one. Or perhaps the prospect of working with a coach he likes and respects might be enough to lure him away.

Given the choice, I'd like to believe he'd stay here (not having to move could help) but who knows?

You sir, are genius.

Gold medal winning, Nobel Prize worthy, jaw droppingly brilliant idea.

I know it will never happen, but if this could be a thing, I would personally be willing to watch Four Corners eat a handful of live bees if that's what it took.

I'm all in.

I think he will make an excellent position coach. I just wonder if it's with us. Has to be an interesting dynamic coaching the players you were teammates the year prior...

He literally did that every time he was on the field

This would make the pill of his retirement much easier to swallow. I love it!

Whatever it takes, make sure he's on the Panthers sideline this year. Because you know he'll still be watching film and dissecting opponents' plays, and can be shouting out adjustments into the defensive captain's headset.

If Luke, who is one of our all time heady players and fan favorites, wants to remain part of the Panthers organization, my guess is that Tepper and Rhule will find a spot for him that pays well since money seems to be no issue with Tepper.

Way to burst my bubble with the Rivera mention.  But this is a strong possibility.  I hope Tepper is whispering sweet nothings into his ear every minute of every day to combat that.  His knowledge and ability to know the offensive play at the LOS is something that will not retire.  That's a talent you want to have on the sideline.
