While Luke retiring sucks, the Panthers will be fine. They will compete. People need to learn to be less emotional,  and more objective.

while i get what youre saying and i think the fanbase is being a bit doomer, outside of the few good pieces we have what is there to be objective about? literally half of our roster are free agents, tepper has done nothing but make false promises so far, our only superstar (without a giant questionmark beside them) in CMC is a RB who might have to spend his prime in a rebuilding dump, and the second we got weapons for our QB who had one of the worst supporting casts in the league he dropped dead with injuries and might (likely) wont ever be the same.  maybe bradberry if we keep him, but bradberry was quite overrated in my opinion. we're an aging team with giant holes, we're gonna be just like what happened to the very team that we ended in the nfc championship game; the cardinals. unwatchable, and hell on earth for years after the glory days.

2020 is going to be bengals level bad to get us our QB in 2021. Were staring at a 3-13 year right in the face.

2021 will be a 6-10 type year where our rookie qb looks promising.

2022 is the year. Honestly, that’s the first shot we have at being competitive. If we’re not competitive by then and haven’t found our future at qb, this decade will not be kind to Carolina.

This is realistic.  And ultimately, promising.

The truth is 2015 and the Cam/Luke/Rivera era is unequivocally over.  Honestly, it was over last year.  In retrospect, this year was just holding on to the past and hoping to revamp something that was not meant to be.

We have to rebuild for hopefully another 5 year run.  Which in many respects in what the modern NFL is about.

We hired Rivera and drafted Cam/Luke, and we had a good window for 5 seasons from 2013-2017.  We did make the playoffs 4 of those 5 seasons, and we got to a SB.  It sucks we didn't win one.

But it's over.  The only way were going to get back is to strip this down and try to build it back up.

Tepper gets it, and that's why he made a 7 year commitment to Rhule.  He looked at his track record, and that's what he's done.

2020 is going to suck.  Hopefully, we put the pieces in place in 2020 & 2021 to start competing consistently starting in 2022.

We can all hope, but anything sooner than that is probably a pipe dream.  Our roster was already pretty bare.  Losing Luke and probably Cam makes it arguably the worst in the league.  It's not getting back to a playoff or SB caliber team overnight

You are an example of not being objective.  The Panthers existed before Luke, and Cam, and they will be fine after them.

fine? idk about that, maybe longterm. im not speaking on the health of the franchise, a team hasnt been disbanded since the 50s. our roster doesnt look good right now, im not sure how you can deny that.

How long have you watched football?

im not sure as to how the amount of time i've watched football would correlate to a team's roster objectively being less talented than it was before

You're simply overreacting in January of all months which is the worst month to try to be objective about any roster.

At least in 2011 we had the #1 pick to make up for one of the worst teams in franchise history. And with that pick it literally ignited the fan base, maybe not right away but after Cams first two games this place was rocking. Unfortunately this time around we wont have the chance to draft a once in a generation talent. Next couple seasons are going to be very tough.
