what if Luke pulls a Ryan Kalil?

Ryan saw the game (based on a few subtle moves his agent made) as a business.  Whenever we needed a contract restructured, Kalil was always involved.  I get that.

Luke is one of those players who would have paid to play.  Sure, he took the money etc. but once you get enough to be set for life, why risk that life for more than you need?  These are smart players.

Isaiah Simmons at 7 is very much on the board now for us. Still think the trenches are where you invest, but if Brown isn't there, then Simmons makes a lot of sense for us.

I was gonna get a thread together about how Simmons could've been the pick before this happened playing a bigger Derwin James role.

Considering how much Rhule likes players with athleticism/track backgrounds and Simmons would be high on our board regardless

He is, and he has been. Tepper indicated as much when he didn't shut down the trade question completely.

Then you get something for him. You've already watched the franchise cornerstone on the other side of the ball walk away entirely.

If both leave for nothing that is beyond pitiful.

The case for trading Cam--any team would give us a high draft pick and pay him $21m  for a year.  Think Manning and Denver. $21m is not much for a QB like Cam for a year.  They do not have to commit on a long-term deal now.  There is minimal risk

We may get a second rounder (Many think we would get more--I dunno, based on his contract being in the last year and injury history).  A future first rounder?  maybe.

Trading him gives us an extra $2m and a pick higher than a third rounder (comp pick) if we cut him--and that is not guaranteed.

Gonna be interesting.
