This might be a courtesy interview for an existing assistant (same as we could do for Fewell) but regardless, that decision belongs to Joe Judge.

It really amazes me how people can't comprehend this.

Now I can actually see a situation where an OWNER will order something from on high.  Sam Mills III may have been a good coach or not, but do you think he was employed by the Carolina organization for his quality?  Or his name (and the owner's affection for that name)?

But GM's?  Nah... DG didn't dictate coaches for Ron Rivera (no matter what the fevered conspiracy theorists believe) and he's not doing it for NYG head coaches either.

Thats my guess too, I believe the biggest reason why he remains is cause the Maras needed a fall guy for Odell. Gettleman signed him to team-friendly deal at the time, then months later Maras wanted him out. Dave did the deal and got back 1st and 3rd and after one year that looks great. Dave took ALL the hate for that, while the Maras sat back in their comfy leather chairs toasting one another. 

Still glad hes not the Panthers GM, wish herniay wasnt either.
