I'm blanking on who it is, but I know Urban had a big fan on this board.

Also...

I found it odd that Greg Roman was virtually completely ignored in this year's HC hiring cycle. Maybe NFL people think Urban is the more important piece there? Or maybe it's just believed in NFL circles that Roman wouldn't make a good HC for whatever reason.

His "unique personality" was brought up a couple of times.

Also possible people believe it's more Jackson being amazing than Roman being smart.

Someone deserves a lot of credit for Jackson's utilization. Try to put that guy in an old school NFL offense and it'd be a disaster.

Not retiring...

Larry - "I'm going to retire."

Team - "Here's $11M dollars!"

Larry - "Ah hell my love for the game won't die, I'm in!"

LOL

I thought Marinelli might get a look.  He was Phil Snow's head coach in Detroit.

They were part of that team that went 0-16 though, so...

Rod gutted that 0-16 team in some very important ways.  He went with an "effort over talent" approach and got rid of the talented guys they had on their roster the years before.  Him and Millen were left with an undersized "high effort" group at linebacker.  They paired this with an undersized "high effort" group on the defensive line.  So what do you get when you have undersized defensive ends playing next to undersized defensive tackles playing in front of undersized linebackers?  One of the worst run defenses in NFL history.  Teams ran for close to 3,000 yards and 31 TDs.  They could have done more if they needed to, but many games weren't close so they just milked the clock.

A coach liking less talented "try hard" guys sounds vaguely familiar. Where have I seen that?
