You're assuming it would be the same now.

That's a big assumption.

It might change slightly, but I’m of the opinion that what went wrong in Denver was about McD’s personality, (cheating, bad interpersonal skills etc). While people learn from negative job experiences and grow in their skill set, their personality does not tend to change much past 30. High probability that once a cheating dbag, always a cheating dbag.

Funny you choose a total wash of a college-to-NFL coach - because that is my concern, although at least Rhule has more experience building programs.

As an aside, wasn't that situation somehow related to JaMarcus Russell too? I don't recall circumstances but I remember feeling that the whole Kiffin ordeal was a lot more complicated.

I honestly am not in love with McDaniels and do not mind passing on him.  I am far more concerned with the way that the hiring was described and the way the process went down than on who was ultimately selected.

I doubt Jamarcus had much to do with it. The same scenario basically repeated itself at Tennessee.

I definitely think Rhule is boom or bust. I'm certainly hoping for boom but I certainly wouldn't be shocked if it turns out to be a disaster.

On the flip side, I'd be shocked if a McDaniels regime turned out to be anything but a disaster.

Seriously, let that sink in for a moment.

Even with all of their organizational dysfunction, an executive that lives in California, two different head coaches, including one that probably wasn't even qualified for the job, over the past two seasons the Cleveland Browns still lost fewer games than we did.

You know as much as I’m anti McDorkface, I can’t really fault him for wanting sweeping organizational changes to the Browns.

It'd be kind of hard to fault anybody for wanting sweeping changes within the Panthers organization either.

We had a QB who was so hurt he couldn’t throw over 15 yards and an undrafted QB leading the team this year with no head coach in the 4th quarter. They had a number 1 overall pick and as good talent on offense as anyone in the league.

I laugh every time I see someone post this about "personalities don't change after 20s, 30s" stuff.  It's good comedy, keep going!

I'll quote what I said in the other thread

Tepper made a huge mistake hiring Rhule over Stefanski

Not a good look when Haslam is making better decisions than you (although it was really DePodesta, who had previously recommended Sean McDermott)

Stefanski will be a great coach

We passed over this guy for another Rivera.   I wonder how many years of losing Tepper is going to have to endure to actually take analytics seriously instead of just tossing it around.

No way you or I could possibly know this right now. We will have to wait and see. Like the year the Eagles hired Pederson, he was not a very popular hire. He went on to win a SB and is the only coach from that year still standing.

Dude.

We get it. You’re very butt hurt the Panthers didn’t do what you wanted, but chill. I also preferred Stefanski to Rhule, but right now you just sound like a spoiled kid yelling cause he didn’t get his way. Nobody knows for sure how either guy will turn out as a coach, so stop pretending you do. You can’t see the future.

Asserting Haslam is making the better choice based on nothing but your personal pereference is absurd. But since we’re doing predictions, I’ve got one for you:

If you’re proven right you’ll crow about it til we’re all sick of it. If you’re proven wrong we’ll never hear a peep unless someone calls you out for it, at which point you’ll backtrack, rationalize, or just make a new alt and ditch this one.

Just like the majority of posters here.

Yeah, let's not forget, the media was practically trying to crown the Browns as this year's Super Bowl champs before a game was even played this season.
