Both our lines are awful. Why we need to fix the o line first.

I could see drafting a center in say 2nd or 3rd that plays guard for a year while we wait for Paradis's cap hit to come down. I'm kinda resigned to the notion we're sorta stuck with him next year, but I think there are enough holes elsewhere like LG that we might as well fix those first.

I think a scheme change will do the existing players some good, while LG is in prime position to he upgraded. Depth is an issue and a guy who can play two spots who has talent should be on our radar. Obvi i say this before knowing what FA brings

I feel better knowing that while C was a huge issue for us last year, Paradis could feasibly turn it around and Centers are found throughout the draft so you don't ALWAYS have to draft them early. Paradis himself wasn't a high draft pick

The Wisconsin C probably won't be around when we pick in the 2nd round, much less the 3rd.  Be nice if it happened though, but so would Chase Young dropping to the 7th pick

Kind of agree that offensive line is an issue but also think we have to be realistic about expectations on how the team will fix it. Hurney is still there and they invested in Little with a high pick, he's going to get chances to play.

LG seems like the spot in need of a free agent upgrade, bc GVR is a free agent and coming off of injury. I think we'd be happy with a solid guy inserted there.

Because they just signed him I'm thinking Paradis is going to be given another shot too, so I wouldn't get my hopes up we just draft his replacement this year. His situation isn't the same as Justin Hartwig back in the day, Hartwig was injured AND trash. He was still trash the next year in Pitt too.

If we upgrade at LG I still fully support drafting a versatile lineman early. Was bummed that OG from Tennessee went back to school bc he's gonna be a first rounder next year

I don't know what to make of Trai Turner. I could see his play being a result of not being good anymore OR trying to make up for other players or bad scheme or whatever. Still seems like a stretch he'd be cut since his contract. So i expect him back.

Also think we could draft a center in the 2nd and move paradis to LG. Making it where he doesnt have to snap the ball then block might improve his play dramatically.

I dont know why center is so devalued considering snapping the ball then blocking is harder along with line calls but if you look at prior drafts, centers are usually drafted in the 2nd and back. There look like it could be 3 franchise centers in this draft and they might all be there at our 2nd pick.

God I wish we would get rid of Hurney so that we don't have to watch him fug this up yet again

Maybe we get lucky and Tepper has an positive effect on Hurney and in reality he did stupid things influenced by Jerry. Maybe EVERYTHING but the draft can be delegated to other coaches and Hurney can replicate his 1st round success. Just trying to stay positive cause I'm pretty sure Hurneys ours next year, Hurney has been maddening with his 1st round hits followed by the Armanti Edward's, pickles, and gauldens of the world.

Well JR was gone last year when Hurney ended up with one of his worst drafts ever =\

Osweiler took over when he got hurt and unfortunately, Osweiler beat the Pats so the AFC Championship was in Denver. Otherwise, we would have played the Pats and we matched up much better with them.

Also, Manning didn't have too much time. I don't think you are remembering the SB well. First, we sacked him 5 times (Cam was sacked 6 times). Second, his QBR was 5.3 and he had 141 passing yards and 0 TDs. The only 2 TDs Denver had were because of strip sacks, one of which was returned for a TD and the other returned to the 4 yard line. Also, one FG was setup by a punt return where we thought the guy called a fair catch and he returned it to our 14.

So, on 18 of Denver's 24 points, Manning had 7 total yards passing. We had him under constant pressure and the Denver OL didn't do anything. Their offense really had 6 points and that's it. The strip sacks and punt return did the most damage.

Anyway, I think the statement that only solid lines have won SBs isn't true. Brady and Belichick made those OLs better than the pure talent. Again, their OL for the past 3 SB wins was anchored by a 3rd, 4th and 5th rounder along with Solder for 2 of the 3. 1 first round pick and then just guys that developed or schemed to be really solid. Dallas spent way more on their OL and haven't had near the success as Wilson or Brady who's teams have done way less. Heck, even our 2015 OL should have won a SB if we decided to change up the plan so Denver wasn't 100% ready for us on D.

1. True, but I guess I'm talking about turnover wise. That 2015 Panthers defense was only "great" because it got turnovers for offense to score or scored on turnovers at a high rate. That was missing in the SB IMO.

2, I agree that belichick/Brady made up a quick hitting offense to slot wr mostly. So they help the oline by getting the ball out quickly. Still man in certain situations I have seen Brady have plenty time when he needed to.

And just because a player is picked in the 3rd round n later doesn't mean they are not any good. I think you are maybe arguing against the Panthers picking an olinemen in the first or 2nd. Well I dont care only thing is do you trust Hurney to hit on a late G or C that can play as good as a Garret Bradbury in his rookie season?

It hurts taking Greg Little over Cody Ford and Erik McCoy who were rated higher. And also giving up a 3rd to boot (who became Chase Winovich smh). But drafting Grier with so many players on the board that could still help us was nonsense. Yodny Cajuste, Maxx Crosby, and Chauncey Gardner-Johnson were all available.

I think we have to go Andrew Thomas at 7. It’s not the sexy pick but we need to fill this black hole we’ve had at LT once and for all. We could move Little to RT and Moton to LG or vice versa. Chances are we probably won’t resign Moton anyways. Depending on how the draft falls Raekwon Davis can be an option in the 2nd. He can start at NT in a 4-3. I would turn to FA and splurge for a DE.
