Both our lines are awful. Why we need to fix the o line first.

D line issue is overblown, a new scheme will fix a lot of the issues, also there will be affordable stop gaps in fa.

if you’re keep cam you want to surround him with the best support cast as possible to make sure he’s worth the potential extension he’d receive the following year.

I still say dt and g can be address in fa, while that leaves us with bpa WR, Cb, or Ot in the first imo while address s,c,dt in the 2nd round.

we should be in good shape

Fixing the lines first is a great idea, but that does not mean we have to draft a lineman in the first.

That's part of the reason the thread title wasn't "ZOMG we has 2 draft o line in furst!!!!!!"

I mean I thought about it, but ultimately went with the approach that didn't advocate locking in any one specific action, but rather advocated for a mindset.

The message was not for you, but for everyone else who said that we have to draft OL in the first or we are subject to the eternal losing.  Everyone is thinking about building for 2020-that is a mistake.

Why are u so stuck in the past!?? Rhule will look at team tape to see player talent!! Not scheme cuz he has his own plan!! See who played and Who didn’t!!  It’s going be a tough year!! But who knows..-a healthy Cam might make like easier

Are you implying Rhule can fix the lines mostly with the players we have on the roster already just by reviewing tape and making scheme changes/coaching players up? Cause I would have to say that's would be more than a bit of a long shot....and a healthy Cam is (sorry to seem so stuck in the past) likely to just get injured again if he has to deal with line play as bad as what we saw this year.

We fans are not qualified to evaluate the QBs in the upcoming draft, and even if we were, we don't have the time or tape available to make a proper evaluation. My point is don't piss your pants if we take a QB in this draft at 7th.

I don't think any of the top 3 will be there when we pick.  If we can't get them it is Oline 1st and DLine 2nd.  We have 3 good Tackles in this draft for the OLine and one is available grab him if he fits our system or the system Rhule will want to use.  I am tired of picking a line man in the 4 to 5 round and hoping we get a diamond.

I hope we draft OL in the first only if the player looks to be worth it.  I think OL - DT - secondary are all acceptable positions in the first, with priority in the order listed.

It would be hard to leave Thomas or Wirfs sitting there so you could draft Jeudy.   We have to address these needs in free agency---but I am assuming that, going forward, we are not going to be active players in free agency.  Can you think of the last player (big name free agent) that was signed my Pittsburgh?  I think Tepper likes that concept.  This is why Marty needs to get the damn draft right rounds 2-7.  You'd think he only researches round 1 players.

we've done it the other way around with the last 2 coaches.   i'd really like fixing the 0-line first this time since we never get around to it the other way

That is a good way of saying it:  "We never get around to it."  What bothered me is that RR and Marty would defend and promote their decisions.   "He is left handed..."

Mike Remmers cost us a Super Bowl.  I do not blame Mike Remmers. I blame the coach and the GM.  Regardless, we should have learned---but we really didn't.  Moton was the answer, I guess.

Look at Dallas (bad example this year) and look at Indy--they developed OLs and it keeps them in the hunt.  A team with a solid OL does not have a mid season meltdown and lose 8 straight.

Think Super Bowl Champs.  We have had teams win the Super Bowl with marginal or inferior QBs (Dilfer, Post-surgery Manning, Flacco, Johnson, etc.) but if you study OLs like I do, NEVER has a Super Bowl been won by a team with a bad OL.  It just does not happen--for a reason.

You need 5 solid starters and 2 players who can step in and not miss a beat.  We had (arguably) 2 solid starters and three WTF's?

I'm keeping my fingers crossed for Andrew Thomas because I think he can play LT well in the NFL even if he's a little lacking in run blocking. Wirfs is not a target for us at 7th imo because best case scenario he'd be a so so RT, or maybe have to go to OG. I don't think Wirfs is a top 10 pick.
