REPORT: Rapoport reports Baylor DC Phil Snow is expected to follow Panthers coach Matt Rhule to Carolina

Look, I get it. He has had success in some of the places he has been. But to me, the hire stinks because I see it as more of the same as the last regime. Rivera always picked his bros first. He had Richard Rodgers on his staff for no other reason than they were college buddies. The guy had no justifiable place on an NFL coaching staff. Rivera needed to fire Eric Washington and now our current head coach says he never fires coaches. I'm nervous about that.

I just don't want to see this staff filled with Matt Rhule's bros and see the same old thing happen again. So far all we've seen reported is Rhule is filling the major positions of his staff with dudes he's comfortable with, and you're right, I don't like that.

Wade Phillips is available! One of the most successful defensive coordinators of all time. He just tutored Sean McVay. He could tutor Matt Rhule too. If he's interested that is. And there are other NFL coaches with a wealth of experience too.

Riveras bros suck though, and everyone already knew they sucked. Rhule's bros have helped him resurrect two dead college programs like a phoenixes from the ashes.

Wade Phillips is a 3-4 guy. He loves it and is on record as saying it's the best. Rhule has gone on record saying he'll run a 4-3 and Snow is known for being able to design a defense around whoever his best players are. He still might tutor Rhule, but I don't want him as DC.

Our society in general is way too focused on qualifications over performance and capability.

Phil Snow has demonstrated the latter repeatedly.

What do people want - for the NFL to be a "made man" organization where the primary criterion for hiring is that you're already in the league...and once you're in, you're IN, and you have a steady stream of gigs for life? THAT'S Rivera-ism.

He hasn't in the NFL. That's the difference and why people are worried.
