NY Giants Owner Confirms They Thought Rhule Contract Was Too Steep

Which part is the huge risk?

Is the risk any more huge than if he hired another coach to a five year $4 mill per contract?

If Rhule is a dumpster fire, do you think Tepper will hang on to him longer because of the contract?

I certainly don’t. Hiring any new head coach will bring inherent risk. Maybe Rhule will flame out, maybe he’ll be the next John Harbaugh.

The goal is sustained success, something this franchise has never had. I guess change is scary to some people.

One thing is for sure, the Panthers are better off long term without Ron Rivera as head coach.

College coach who has never had experience in the NFL.

College coach who never even coached a top D1 program.

College coach who hasn't won a bowl game.

College coach who doesn't want NFL coordinators.

FO that is getting gutted and will need to rebuild in 3 1/2 months.

FO that will be controlled by Marty Hurney.

I think that pretty much does it.

Realization. Now that that's established.

The next step is acceptance.

So if you were making $2k per week and someone came to you and offered $1500 per week for a more stressful job, would you take it?

Neither would Rhule.  Any owner who thinks they were going to lure him by paying him cheap is just talking sour grapes now.

Whether or not he can coach in the NFL remains to be seen, but the money was going to come if he was stepping from Baylor to the NFL.

Again, no issue whether or not he can afford it.

The concern would be that maybe he doesn't know what he's doing.

TA DA!! And there you have it, folks. Don't try to hide your opinion behind "the concern", Mr. Scot. Even being a "realist" won't hide it any longer. Hold some skepticism as we all do. But ........

Mr. Scot doesn't trust David Tepper.

It's not the coach he hired. It's not the money he paid said coach. It's not the lack of NFL experience said coach brings. Or who the staff he hires is. There you have it in a nutshell.

Mr. Scot doesn't trust David Tepper.

Not necessarily "don't trust". More like "don't know if I can trust him yet".

How this hire works out will say a lot.
