im not saying our DL is the best in  football or anything jsing i felt it was a bit of  astretch to call em the worst; burns, addison, short and poe seems like a decent front 4 to me. we have questions there but i think if we're looking DL we'd pick one up in round 3 or so

Think Addison is FA and given new coach and age, return is doubtful.

Men be, but Addison was pretty darn good value for production vs cost. Will be hard to beat that.

definitely will be, addison was very underrated across the NFL. one of the most consistent DEs in the league year in and year out. he'll probably be with the giants next year

I realize the coaches know a lot more than me, but I’ll be pretty disappointed if Paradis gets the ok.

We’re probably stuck with him for a year just based on cap number alone. If our entire roster wasn’t leaking, maybe we could bite the bullet, take the cap hit and move on, but I don’t see that being likely with him.

I have never been wrong before, but there is a first time for everything I suppose.

Normally I’m super inclined to agree with this approach. This particular offseason, I’m looking at it differently for a specific reason.

IF Cam is our qb next year, given his injury history and the paramount importance of franchise qb’s, I think any approach that doesn’t make upgrading his protection the most urgent priority would be a mistake.

If we move on from Cam, all bets are off and yeah it’s gonna take a few years so BPA all day. If Thomas and Wirfs are gone by 7, get BPA in 1st and do what you can to address o line in later rounds. But if Thomas or Wirfs are sitting there at 7 and we’re bringing Cam back, I think that’s gotta be the pick.

Just my two shekels.

That's a fair argument, all things considered. And if that Tackle from Georgia who's name I forget is worth it and he's in the board on 7, if we stick with Cam I'd be hard pressed to argue another pick. Maybe WR, Curt is still an unknown AND in a contract year, OT isn't our BIGGEST need on the line, and Jeudy and Lamb are both really damn good.)

So, we had Addison, McCoy, Burns and Poe for most of the year. Poe played 11 games so we were already about halfway through our 1-9 finish with him. How is Short coming off IR making that DL good enough? Addison is a FA as well and Short and Poe cost us $30M in 2020.

DL is just as big of a need. OL is not good but Little/Daley in year 2, Van Roten, a year healthier Paradis, Turner and Moton is just as good as Burns, Poe coming off IR like Paradis, Short coming off IR like Paradis and ?.

We aren’t set at DL at all. If Little/Daley can improve and Paradis come back healthy and stronger, we might just need some 2nd through 4th round interior help/starters.

I think scheme and coaching had a lot to do with the defensive woes, particularly the defensive line.

If you would have told me before the season that Bruce Irvin, Gerald McCoy, Dontari Poe, KK Short and Mario Addison (not to mention Burns and Miller in the draft) would have amounted to one of the worst Dlines in the NFL - I would have bet you my entire fricking house that couldn't happen.

The kid is a great talent who works extremely hard to be the best every day at his position. He has been on record since his freshman year of college stating he wants to be the best DB in America. He put in the work through the years to make it there as well. And he isn't just an ultra talented kid, he is a kid with great character by all accounts. If the draft falls out way its both a position of need and likely the best available player that also 100% fits the mold of what Rhule wants to establish here without question.

Until I saw that we were definitely going back to the 43 as our base I couldn't see anyone else but D brown at this pick, but if Bradberry goes this definitely could be it. I still think we keep Bradberry and role with D. Brown just because I think it's a lower bust rate and more important position then DB. This is only because D. Brown can play all the spots on the line and destroy run schemes, while keeping luke clean and sacking the qb. It comes down to me the question of wich player at our pick is the generational talent. Hopefully analytics helps this....

Wirfs is a Rhule type pick

At a position of need at OT.  And said to be one of the biggest athletic Freaks to come out at his position in atleast 5 years.  Also a Dam good player.

I am going to go look at Wirfs and see if he is any good.

    • yeah. winter backpacking trips were the most miserable and amazing experiences. same with the coldest and snowiest hunting  experiences. i love being in it. makes for incredible memories. the worse it was, the more i ended up loving it. made the greatest memories.  i just want to get out of it afterwards.
    • I forgot about Jackson...definitely elite.  The sad part of your list is that 2 of them were 'there for the taking for the Panthers'.  Rumor has it that Hurney loved Herbert and was vetoed on trying to trade up.  And rumor has it that Frank & McCown wanted Stroud.  I believe both rumors.
    • I went on a solo elk hunt in the Flat Tops. It was awesomely miserable. LOL It was a late season hunt, I think third season and it was forecasted to snap off cold with highs in the upper thirties and lows in the single digits. fug it, I'm going anyway. They were wrong. The highs were in the low 20s and the lows were in the negative teens. I shivered so hard the first night I thought my teeth were going to break. It was the only time I've ever been legit concerned that I might be in trouble. Crawled out of my sleeping bag and got a fire started and suffered through the night bundled up next to the fire. I slept the next two nights literally wearing every stitch of clothing I'd brought with Nalgenes full of near boiling water in the bottom of my sleeping bag. That was the only way to have non-frozen water in the morning anyway. There was about a foot of snow on the ground and the melt/freeze crust was almost enough to support your weight but you'd go crashing through just as you went or make your step. It was exhausting travel and every step sounded like a rifle shot. Hunting was basically impossible. I never saw an elk in those four days, only saw 5-6 deer. LOL It was brutal but I loved it. Absolutely beautiful country that is never been to before and haven't been back since. I needed that four day complete break from society fighting for my life against the elements. I'm weird like that.
