Marty on Rhule and Cam Newton status

Fans could turn on Rhule if he talks like Newton is staying and then he doesn't.

Our own Roaring Riot theorized that Marty might still be around for the purpose of taking the fall for that move if it happens.

Don't know if it's true, but it's plausible.

Oh a fall guy is definitely needed. If Tepper has a pulse on this fan base and I believe he does, he knows the Rhule hire isn’t exactly a fan favorite. To get rid of Cam right after that ooooooweeeee  you’re going to have a hard time selling tickets.

This is what concerns me because Tepper isn't the only rich owner in the NFL and historically, throwing money around doesn't lead to championships.

Yea I got a lot of jerry Jones/dan Snyder/ Donald Trump vibes from tepper in the last couple of days.

Tepper and Hurney have been dancing around the question too. They can't come out and say "Cam will be our starting QB until further notice" and end all of the questions and speculation.

Most of the fans that I have spoken with are happy with this hire, at least the ones who actually pay attention to football.

As to selling tickets, unfortunately, that's the least of Teppers worries.  Have you ever looked at our "sell out" streak?

Personally, I don't think this team should be in rebuild mode with the talent we have.  If Cam can be healthy and we can improve the line and switch back to the 4-3, this should be a playoff team.  You are never going to get All Pros at every position and we have a generational type talent (in Luke and CMC) on each side of the ball currently on our roster.  Less talented teams made the playoffs this year.

The Rhule hire makes me think Cam is gone and/or the team doesn't think he can be healthy for a full season again.  This team isn't talented enough to carry a rookie or average QB . . . we need someone exceptional under center.

Our best players play running back and middle line backer.  We have nothing to build around on either line, our secondary is in shambles, we have question marks at QB and at TE.....so, yea, you and I are probably not going to see eye to eye.

most everyone loves the hire.  he won the press conference, that's for sure.  now no cam in the new hype video.  he knows selling tickets will come with a winner, and so will his new complex filled with businesses that don't count towards his nfl earnings, businesses that will pay him high rent, and some he'll have a stake in or own outright.   this is right out of kraft's playbook

I think you’re speaking for the minority. I won big money betting against Baylor twice this year.

I’ve already told y’all Cam is here unless he doesn’t want to play a one year deal.

You can’t make a case for cutting him that is a smart decision. If you cut him and he turns out to be healthy then you set this team back 10 years. And cut him for who? There isn’t a QB in the draft better than Kyle Allen and that says a lot.

My gut says that when it comes time to make a decision Cam will ask to be released and the team will grant it.  A mutual parting of the ways.

I hope i am wrong but i have had that same feeling for a long time.

Maybe. But might be too late for that if his shoulder is still constantly sore. If only the last regime cared more about it ..

Yeah I don’t think you can put Cam in a Sports science machine and regenerate his shoulder.  Haven’t consulted the google too much but Sports science seems to be more geared toward an overall approach to Athlete recovery from workouts, games etc.  rather than a regenerative miracle cure.

Trade Cam while you still can...get a return for him now

Just release him and let him chose his own path forward.  It's the honorable thing to do.  Pay him what he's owed and through him one hell of a send off party to thank him for the wonderful memories here.   That's what I would do if it were my choice in how it ends.
