Marty on Rhule and Cam Newton status

Keeping Cam would be an attempt to win now. If he says he is healthy and we move on anyway,  you will know we are in complete rebuild mode and unless we get lucky like Baltimore or KC on a rookie or young guy, will be sucking for the next several years. Something I will watch on TV but won't be paying thousands of dollars to see in person.

Cam has put his body on the line for this organization and willed them to victory over and over and over. I would seriously hate for them to turn their back on him now. With the time he has had off and rest he could come back rejuvenated and better than ever next year. I would hate to see that Cam on another team. It would piss me off that we didn't give him the opportunity to prove himself and just kicked him out the door. Players get injured, players go on IR. Cam has made it clear he wants to be in Carolina. You won't find anyone with more heart or love for the game than Cam. Give him a chance to show you what he's got and I'm pretty sure you're not gonna be disappointed.

Well said.

I firmly believe that they are prepared for that.  It will be a full on rebuild most likely spread over 2 seasons.   It will be interesting to see which positions they will start with.  I suppose it will depend on how many of the players buy in or want to be a part of this rebuild.  It is going to be a wild ride to say the least.

Could be, or could just be they are being noncommittal on that one given the uncertainty of his health. Could see it going either way really, hard to know. No one will return my texts.

I will return your texts!!  Obviously, we are in speculation mode, and it makes the offseason enjoyable.  I just don't get a warm, fuzzy about Cam.  If healthy, he plays in 2020 one would think, but they know much more than we do.

How many superbowl victories had Cam willed the Panthers to in?

Name the only team Cam has played for that hasn’t won a championship...

Hell the dude lost like one game in his life before coming to this dumpster franchise so keep thinking he’s the problem...

Name me the MAJOR league teams cam has won a title for.... lol this ain't college bruh.

that dude likes to pretend he has inside info, and he's so butthurt over cam its like cam was his first true love.  and maybe he was as a qb.   i get it but the butthurt has lasted sooooooo long.    i think a giant weight will be lifted off the franchise when cam is gone, and maybe how difficult and immature cam is will start leaking - but maybe he's here and buys in and balls out.   who knows, but i'm not gonna be butt hurt over any of it.

Honestly I'm a bit disappointed Rhule could talk for hours about his process, continuity, team building. But couldn't find time to evaluate the roster and talk anything related to Xs and Os. When Ron came in, he had a lot more to say about actual football and schemes than Rhule has. Usually head coach candidates evaluate a lot of these things before the interview and talk about a very specific vision for the team. This guy is all big words.

To be fair, the guy literally coached a bowl game, then went on vacation. When he gets home, Tepper is waiting for him in the driveway. They talk for several hours, then he’s hired that day. A couple of days later he’s in Charlotte being introduced as the new head coach. During the time in between he’s got to:

speak with his players at Baylor to let them know he’s leaving, speak with his coaches, speak with any number of school administrators, make plans to put his house on the market, make plans to start looking for a place for his family to live in Charlotte, pack for the trip here, put together his remarks for the presser, start planning his pro coaching staff and check who’s available.

Ron was a pro coach moving to another pro team. Pro teams scout the rest of the league constantly, so they are going to be more familiar with another teams roster and current league trends than a college coach jumping up to the pros.

I just doubt very much that Rhule had much chance to evaluate our roster and start planning anything specific yet. Now when he said he hadn’t spoken with Tepper and Marty about Cam? That’s clearly a load of BS, but to me it’s pretty believable that under the circumstances he might not have had much time to evaluate the roster and get into any X’s and O’s stuff.

Kind of ironic you use that as an argument when we just hired an unproven college coach to be our next HC.

I hope that when they do get rid of Cam this year that this franchise becomes snakebitten at the Qb position so all of you little "huddlers" that have taken him for granted his entire career here will maybe understand 5 years from now the talent we actually had at the QB position. And you'll realize that franchise QBs do not actually grow on trees.

Cam deserves to have one last season to prove he can still be the guy. Hes earned that much. If they release/trade him without him getting an opportunity I hope this team never wins under Teppers ownership. Call me a Cam fan and say that I'm not a "real" panther fan I don't give a f***. I was actually around for the Clausen days I remember sitting in my living room ECSTATIC he fell to us in the second round only to find out he couldnt cut it in the NFL. Franchise QBs don't come around very often at all. That's why it would be a HUGE mistake for them to move on from Cam at this point.

This type of post is why this board has been garbage the past year.
