Lets not forget

Rhule has always talked about mismatches even if it means moving people around.

A few people including one of the ESPN draft heads thought Burns Could play a 4-3 OLB.

Anthony Barr, is Very similar to Burns coming out.  Was a 3-4 OLB in college, and has been a Stud as a OLB in Minnesota's 4-3.

That is what I was thinking--instead of beefing him up, have him drop 10 and take Davis' old gig.  Not sure if he has that skill set, which is why I am asking instead of pretending to know everything.

Huddlers notoriously have no idea what's going on around the league

They think Cody Ford and Star were tearing it up in Buffalo

Not sure if you were referring to how Dillard did.  But he has been bad all season. I watch the Eagles with my dad still a huge fan.  Dude was bad.

He got benched later in the season. He still a rookie but it does look like NCfan and Linville were right about him.

Do all of your posts have an underlying theme of "I so smart, everyone else so dumb"?  Just curious.

Burns, Haynes, Christian Miller, Irvin, etc are all better off in 34

We were 2nd in the NFL in sacks

It's much easier and cheaper to fix run defense than finding pash rushers;  this is dumb

you don't build a defense around haynes, miller, and irvin. they're irrelevant to the argument at hand.

if burns can be converted without dropoff it's a no-brainer. the rest of our personnel is very well suited to it.

Exactly right.

Rhule has a 7 year contract. It takes time to turn a barge.

I plan on treating this team much like an expansion team now with low expectations and excitement for what is being built.

Baylor is a Baptist school.

Looked it up though. His dad is a Nazarene minister.

This thing just went full circle---it is all starting to make sense.  Temple was founded by a Baptist minister....Apologies about the alter boy comments.  I misspoke. :liar:

    • OK, so this is a bit weird.  When I coached at Salisbury High School when I first started teaching, I used to go over to Catawba College to watch film and talk football with their coaches.  They were great. Curtis, Jalon's father, I assume, was a LB at Catawba and hired as LB coach by Bennett When Coastal started their program, they hired Catawba's coach Bennett.  Bennett must have taken Jalen's father with him to Coastal. I am guessing that is about the time Jalon was born and why he was in Conway. So then his father comes back to Salisbury after Jalen is born and takes the head coaching job. Jalen is a good interview.  I love the kid based on this, and I have heard good things from former colleagues of FB.  Salibury (when I was there) was a very rough school.  Gangs, drugs, etc.  To put it in perspective, I was there for 2.5 years and I had four (4) students in my class (at different times) who committed murder during that time. A girl was raped in the gym by a few boys.  One night, after a game (there is a road between the coaches offices in the gym and the rest of the school) the coaches watched film until 1 AM or so.  When we were leaving to walk to our cars parked across that street, we noticed a car sitting in the middle of the road about 100 yards away with its lights off.  The driver took off when we neared the street, so we all hit the ground.  As the car passed, we heard about 6 or 7 gunshots.  The next day, the van behind where we fell to the ground had 2 bullet holes in it, about 5 feet above the ground.  All that to say this:  If the young man on the video endured anything like that, I want him to succeed and I found it interesting that he mentioned playing for the Panthers.  I am not sold on the player as a fit here based on our needs, but I am sold on the person.  Very proud of him for some reason that many may not understand.
    • First off, he's not even eligible for a contract yet.  You have to play three years. And thank goodness! All we saw last year were glimpses.  Yes, those glimpses were enough that I think every fan wants to see him come back next year.  But bottom line is that so far, with only a couple games worth of exceptions, he hasn't yet shown that he's a FRANCHISE QB.  He hasn't shown the consistent ability to elevate the players around him. He could be the guy.  After week two of this year, just saying that much is a massive, massive positive swing.  But let's see him put it together for 17 games.  Let's see him make the people around him BETTER.  Then we can talk about extending him. Let's not lose sight of the fact that thus far in his career, in no season has BY exceeded the rookie stats of MAC JONES. We should  be excited for the possibility, but we certainly haven't seen yet what we need to see to declare we have our guy.
    • People cared as it was happening, but after a year or two, most people had moved on. There was no public outcry to bring the NBA back to Charlotte, it just happened.
