In all fairness to Luke, he's had 3 really NASTY concussions that were evident to anyone watching the games. He may have had others we don't know about.

At times I think he is a bit more cautious when tackling than before in order to prevent another one.  I don't blame him if that's the case. Like you said in your post an 85% Kuechly is still better than most MLB's in the NFL.

I have noticed one thing...and correct me if I'm wrong... I don't think Luke missed a game the past 2 seasons because of a concussion.

You are correct.  He has had no diagnosed concussions in the past two seasons.

I think that's due to that experimental neck collar thing that was designed to prevent concussions hes been wearing based off a woodpeaker I think. I don't think hes had once since he started wearing that thing.

Exactly true. Luke isn't as aggressive as he used to be and tackles people high rather than low to keep his head from being kicked or avoid helmet to helmet. His problem this year was not being adept at getting around blockers in order to make tackles. It really is more about speed and elusiveness which goes against his instincts which are to engage and try to go through the block. Not easy when you are giving up 70 lbs to a guy running at you. He has played in a 4-3 forever where that skill wasn't as important.  It is more technique than size or strength.

By the way, those folks saying Burns can't play in a 4-3 need to remember Michael Strahan who played DE at 6'5" and 255.  Well Burns is 6'5" and should weigh that much or more at the beginning of this season. Michael had a quick takeoff and relied on technique more than brute strength  just like Burns.

And it took Strahan 3 years  to get 7.5 sacks (in a season). Expectations aren't realistic anymore. If a player isn't a first year phenom they are written off.

It's shocking the amount of people who know absolutely nothing about football on this forum, acting like Burns can't possibly play end because he is 250. Yikes.

I'm a lot less concerned about his weight than I am that he seems to be hurt a lot.

Can't play?  Nah, not saying that.

Full time starter at the DE position that requires you to play the run just as well as the pass?  I have my doubts.

Never said he couldn't play out there, just that I think he would struggle....I would love for him to prove me wrong.

Keep in mind building muscle actually protects joints and tendons from injury. And most college players coming into the NFL don't have NFL style workout programs and don't properly warm up and do things to preserve their body from unnecessary injuries like groin and hamstring injuries for example. In addition their technique often needs improvement to play smarter not harder and they aren't used to the grind of a minimum of 20 games including the preseason and more if you make it to the post season. Folks sometimes make too much of what happens as a rookie when really most college players have a lot to change both mentally and physically to transition from college to the pros.

Tbh it's very hard to follow your posts since they're derived heavily from emotion rather than logic.

says the guy who has been following me around in every thread since the offseason telling me about how much i’m wrong about everything bc he can’t handle a negative take

how did you enjoy our 5-11 season that i pretty much told you was going to happen for a variety of reasons?

It's amazing Gettleman kept his job. They're actually worse than we are.

pat shurmur was a horrible hire on his part. the team never gelled under him and his staff, which would completely negate any real improvements gettleman made on the roster. i think if you’re gettleman at this point you pretty much have to completely blow out the coaching staff and start over because the idea of keeping shurmur another year is ridiculous. i don’t expect him to survive much longer if the giants continue trending the way they have been. like 2 years max.

that said as bad as the giants have been marty hurney wouldn’t last two fuging seconds in that organization. they don’t have owners that have soft spots for project general managers and will let them run the drafts and free agency for some 13 or 14 out of 19 years while they figure out how to win consistently.

I don't like their last two hires, but I think the Giants are in a better spot than we are currently, roster compared to roster.

That's not awesome to think about.

LOL I've posted like twice all offseason...thanks for reaffirming that you argue from your fragile wittle feelings over anything factual.

I can't handle a negative take? How's this for one: we suck...we're probably a bottom-three team currently.  If I tell you you're wrong, it's probably cause you post some pretty dumb takes, not cause I can't handle negativity.  This board is full of negativity so if you feel like I'm specifically targeting you of all people, that should tell you something.

I thoroughly enjoyed every game this year....the day I stop enjoying football, is the day I stop watching.  For the sake of your own mental health, I'd advise you to consider doing the same.

Your turn: how did you enjoy your boy's 4-12 season that I pretty much told you was going to happen for a variety of reasons?
