I’m not worried about hardass poo from Coughlin. He’d be more of an advisor role then a disciplinarian. It’s Matt’s locker room.

Coughlin was pretty much forced to soften up during his last few years in New York.

I think he might have gone hardass again in Jacksonville but it got him fired.

Agree he likely wouldn't be a problem here.

TheRumGone mentioned Tom Coughlin as a possibility for his veteran mentor/guide.

I'd say that's very possible.

I would say that is borderline probable. Man some guys would not like that, damn clocks on the wall.

People talking about players wanting to line up to play for Rhule...I certainly don't think that is the case for Coughlin now.  IMO he is poison in free agency for any team that touches him.

I like Sean Ryan as OC. Not my first choice but he’s young and has worked with Eli Manning, Watson and Stafford. I just want Wade Phillips. He’s a defensive genius and former HC.

I agree with you on Wade Phillips being the DC. But who would be your first choice for OC?

Any chance Joe Brady is in play for OC waiting until after the NC game? I would think he would have named Ryan already if that was his pick.

As a gators fan and an SEC person oh hell yes Joe Brady would be an awesome hire for OC!

A little info on the issue with the Jets (via Giants reporter Ralph Vacchiano)

When he was discussing the Jets job, Rhule wanted to bring Baylor DC Phil Snow aboard (same guy being talked about now) but the Jets were targeting Gregg Williams. Apparently, then Jets GM Mike McCagnan refused to budge on this so the two sides parted ways.

Fast forward to now: The Panthers have told Rhule he has full control over his staff, though they would like to keep RB Coach Jake Peetz because of his prior work with McCaffrey. It sounds like they won't force him, but they'll ask nicely.  His RB Coach at Baylor (Jeff Nixon) hasn't been with him as long as some other coaches have.

As to others, there's been no mention of Carolina trying to keep Chase Blackburn or Perry Fewell, but both are acquainted with Rhule from his Giants season. Wade Phillips has been mentioned, but even with Rhule now officially signed, given that a DC dispute is what blew the New York deal, I don't think the Panthers would do any more than suggest (if that).
