Ask one person in South Beach if they aren’t excited about Flores. We should hope to be as excited about the future under Rhule after his first season as Miami fans are with Flores.

 

A fan base being excited about a newish coach is no meaningful gauge of their actual effectiveness. Lots of people here are excited about the Rhule hire, that doesn’t automatically mean he’s taking us to the playoffs.

The underlying point NCfan is making is that Bellicheck’s extensive coaching tree has fared very poorly on the own, even worse than college coaches jumping to the NFL.

carroll and obrien earned their chops in the NFL. Rhule-- not so much.

let's be real about what those comments were about. 

He couldn't stop those dudes when they were in college.  So saying that fits a specific narrative and defensive position of a Baylor coach.  Focusing on the fact they were the most NFL ready dudes....is an attempt to justify his inability to stop them. 

So he over hypes and sells them as much better than they were.  Because all he cares about when those comments are made is the perspective of his ability/perception at Baylor.

Will Grier had a good college tape and a lot of coaches and scouts felt the same way. He's just processing things slow at the NFL level so far.

it’s one thing to say that when he is a college prospect who never played a snap

it would be an issue for me if he said that after seeing the tape of grier from the two games he played in last month

I am sure every single coach in the NFL has someone every single year they are wrong about in the draft.
