Matt Rhule is not into analytics, and his offensive philosophy is archaic and inefficient

All I know is the guy turned around two DISMAL programs in short order. He's doing something right!

Motivates well, builds a culture, recruited the right guys, etc.  But the NFL is not college football, and if you're going to rely on being a good leader, you'll end up like Ron Rivera (you can be successful with the right talent, but eventually you have to match wits with more clever coaches, and Super Bowl 50 happens).

No, the NFL is not college, but his track record in college warrants notice, and there is a reason he was considered a hot commodity in the NFL. Whether or not it translates, we'll see. I think he's got the right stuff, but time will tell the story.

I really don't have much of an opinion on the Rhule hire because I didn't think he'd be the guy. I thought he was going to the Giants.

Bottom line though is that this guy was a hot candidate for a reason. It's not like he came out of nowhere. He's been on NFL radars for awhile now and his name was connected to pretty much every NFL job available this season. Tepper identified the guy he wanted and he put a big enough number on paper to ensure he got him. That alone gives me reason to be hopeful again about the Tepper era.

and once you see Hurney walking around BOA when the video montage of the Rhule greeting comes out you'll be right back down to earth like the rest of us on the Tepper era.

I'm definitely curious about exactly what Hurney'd role will be going forward and perplexed why he has one.

Something I'm keeping in the back of my mind...

They asked Sean Payton about him, and Payton mentioned that Rhule is friends with Saints assistant GM Jeff Ireland (Ireland went to Baylor).

    • You go after my guy with nonsense like "I don't see quickness or explosiveness" and "I haven't seen a lot of quickness or full route tree ability that we always ignore" Then yea, I'm gonna punch back. Like I've said, if people want to draft someone else, that's totally fine, everyone has their own opinions.  But if you're going to advocate against a specific player, don't talk complete nonsense about their game like this. Even more so, don't do that when you're saying I'm the one with a bias towards him. If I was afraid of it looking like a bias pick on my part, I'd never have said I was an Arizona alumni when arguing for him, but I've admitted it from the very beginning, because I don't think my Arizona connection gives me a bias, it just means I know his game REALLY well as I've seen every snap of his college career.  So yea, you start saying the knocks on him are things that he's actually really good at, then you're going to get an earful from me with some video evidence to back it up. In the end, for me, it all falls back to how rare a player like T-Mac can be due to his size.  The smaller speedier type of WRs are exactly who you can find in later rounds and who become available as Free Agents, I can't ever get on board with taking a Hunter (as a WR) or Burden over T-Mac if all were on the board, for that reason alone, and I'd say that if he was a freaking Sun Devil, no matter how much it would hurt me to admit if it if that were the case.
