Scott Turner to the Redskins

Ron likely needed to do what McCarthy (apparently) did and take a year and really self evaluate.

Instead, he signed the divorce papers, and immediately flew to Vegas to marry his secretary from his travel agency business.

Under the current ownership the Redskins have been an historically bad organization.

If Ron creates a consistently competitive team there, the answer to who was the biggest problem in Carolina should be pretty obvious.

There doesnt always have to be a glaring problem that you can point to and say "Yes, thats it - thats why we suck now".  A lot of times, coaches just wear out their welcome when they are at one place too long.  Ron is still a very good coach...sometimes a change of scenery can be good for everyone.

No doubt about it.  If he is able to make them a consistent winner, I will be floored.

I was just kinda saying out loud that while Ron is miles better at his job than Marty, Ron likely needed to take some time to look back and reflect, grow, and change a bit....instead he thinks the problem is everyone else.

IMO Ron is one of Ron's worst enemies.

True, however:

I'd say, if the last three times Carolina's Head Coaches went on to work with another GM it resulted in them doing their best work, as an owner you have a serious problem.  That wouldn't be a coincidence, that is a trend and it is likely time to find a new GM.

I'm not one to go out on a limb to defend Rivera, but he is an average to slightly above average HC in IMHO.

A little time off might have been the best course of action, but he was a hot commodity for a franchise that hasn't seen much success in 20 years.

No telling what the situation for Ron would have been after a year out of circulation.

Striking while the iron is hot might not have been the best move, but Ron seems to be in control of his own destiny in DC.  Plus, he shouldn't have any financial worries for the next several lifetimes, no matter how badly things may go there.

Oh, it was for sure the right thing to do financially, I just have a hard time envisioning him changing much, and he is sorely needing to change to catch up with todays NFL.

Good luck to him, but I'm not expecting much success.
