This tells me 2 things.

 

Tepper is preparing for a fairly long rebuild, and Rhule was by far his number 1 choice.

Again, I'm perfectly happy...something this team hasn't made me in some time.

The more I think about this, this was a smart move by ownership.  I don't care what anyone says, Rhule is definitely a "college coach" and he's going to need the best assistants he can get while he adapts to the NFL game.  How many people want to move their family for some college coach they don't even know, and have no idea if that guy is even going to be around in 2 years or simply ran out of the league?  Enter the huge contract.  Now he has the ability to make a play for some of the better names in the business, and be able to say "we have stability at the top, and we are going to allow you to build something here."  Considering its not money that effects the cap, I like it as a strategy on top of everything else.

It also sends the message to the players as well.  Don't blow this guy off (hehe), he's here longer than you are.

Let me put it to y'all this way. Tepper is worth 12 billion.  60 million is .5% of that.  So..... To put it in perspective.

I've mentioned this before, but you can rebuild while winning some games....mind you, it's a fairly stupid way to do it, but it can be done.

If we were truly going to start from scratch, Cam and Luke are likely gone this offseason, Cam certainly.  We will see what Tep wants to try to accomplish.
