My #1 target!

There was a segment during the season on ESPN that talked how much of a players ciach and how much respect and ammount he gets out of his players is astonishing

He talked how Little he focuses on recruiting and much he spends on his own players

Good point. However, if you look at his recruiting rankings they are far from stellar so maybe not recruiting that he excelled at.

This is good news then because it implies his skill set is less recruiting oriented. I admit I do not follow college as closely so I’m trying to gather info here, thanks.

It took 3 seasons for him to turn Temp,e and Baylor into winners. 3 seasons in, only your seniors aren’t guys you recruited. The team is 75% yours. How exactly is it supposed to take years and years longer if you’re good at recruiting?

The seniors at Temple? Who cares. Ruhle took over for Steve Addazio after he went 4-7. it's not like the cupboard was full.

Winning at bad programs is the sign of a good coach.

Casual college football fans seem to think it's all about wins and playoff appearances, but college football is predicated entirely on recruiting power and money. Urban Meyer and Dabo Swinney didn't start winning games because of how good of coaches they are; they can outrecruit, out spend, and build better organizations.

That advantage doesn't exist at the NFL because everyone has unlimited money (except the bengals lmao) and everyone can do whatever they want. The talent difference is negligible.

This is a fuging great hire.

I definitely am a more casual fan at the college level and agree with what you’re saying here so for me this helps mitigate some of my skepticism about hiring a college coach. Sounds like evidence suggests Rhule’s skill set as a coach is not predicated on recruiting. That is more reassuring if true.

Devils advocate:

turning around a college program is largely about being a good recruiter, a skill that is borderline meaningless to success in the NFL as a HC.

It is a million times easier to turn around a college team.  Especially in the Big 12.

Want analytics...someone quick do college coaches success in the NFL

The dude spends as little on as Recruiting as any football coach in America FWIW.

Ahh yes which is why Texas is doing so well.

Harbaugh did great, Kelly was over .500 with then got eaten alive in the 49ers mess, Carroll is an interesting case but he never did anything in the pros, Marrone has somehow gotten two winning seasons.

like i was poo on from all the usual suspects for saying the panthers should go after kingsbury to be their offensive coordinator.

lines of dipshits came out to tut tut about his lack of wins at a fourth tier texas school

he did VERY interesting things in Arizona this year and when they get that defense sorted out they'll compete again in the NFC West.
