Reports: Matt Rhule finalizing deal to be Carolina Panthers HC

Wow! This is mystifying given his limited NFL experience. I hope for the best, but given limited information this is a tad shocking. The Panthers must have been greatly impressed with his interview yesterday. he has turned around a couple of college programs, but they are college programs. He was an Assistant OL coach in the NFL for a limited time.

Experience is not everything. I will excitedly and anxiously keep my fingers crossed.

I don’t know anything about this guy beyond what’s in this forum. But if he’s the pick to lead the Panthers, I hope he is a home run. I’ll be rooting for him all the way. #RhuleToRule

I’m a big fan of his and have been following him since he started at Temple, although of course there is risk with him having very little NFL experience. I hope to write up something here about him, very busy at work now though so it may be a few days.

Rhule was a great coach at Temple.  He then made Baylor a top 10 team.  Now he’s in the NFL.  We are getting this guy during a huge upswing in his career.  I’m excited!

If they wanted McCarthy they had a month to hire him when there were no other openings. They didn't want him that bad.
