Update: Tua entering NFL draft

All I am going to say, is that Tua had the same injury as Bo Jackson. Bo Jackson didn’t come back from his injury. I know that’s two different positions, but Tua is a hard pass from me. If Bo Jackson couldn’t come back, I don’t see Tua being effective running the ball and that is a huge part of his game.

Jackson had complications that Tua has not had as far as I know.

Ok you willing to bet a first rounder on it? Not me, maybe 2nd or 3rd, no way to a 1st.

That he’s not hurt as bad as Bo? That NFL teams won’t “bet” on it with every medical test known? Because I’ll be shocked if he lasts past 3. He sure won’t be around at 7.

He is projected 12 right now, again no way I bet a first round pick on a player that has been injured 3 times in 2 years. He is a spread attack QB and a threat to run, if he can’t run then he better be the next Drew Brees with accuracy. I just don’t see it.

A spread QB that can run. I don’t know who you have been watching but it wasn’t Tua. And who has him at 12. Is there a credible draft source that says this. Or is that just the lowest you could find?

And his accuracy has been compared to Brees many times. So there is that. When he goes top 5 at worst, we’ll see what footballpeople would bet on. Not some guy in his moms basement mock draft.

It's friggin Mel Kiper.

Every Mock Draft I have seen have him in the top 7.

I’ve watched him every game he has played. Pro style pistol formation. He is not a bad QB, I’m not knocking him. He just had one half of his game removed. Mel Kiper currently has him at 12, and other quote insiders say mid to late first. Since we pick 7th I just don’t think he is worth the risk.

In addition, the medical tech we have now is astronomically advanced to that of 30 years ago.  If the MRI shows he's ready to rock, he's likely going top-5.

Tua is a big gamble no matter how you feel. When you apply the context of the situation the Panthers have dealt with in regards to Newton's injuries, why on earth would you potentially back yourself into another corner with a quarterback with injury concerns?

That's just not smart from a team building perspective.

Maybe, Health care advancement is amazing. Bo is one of the greatest players of all time, if he couldn’t come back....It just scares the poo out of me. Let’s see where he goes draft night. I’ll bet 15-32 range. My opinion.

And out of Kipers mouth when debating McShay in their draft special. That’s without knowing any medical results, and if he’s close to healthy he can bring #1 overall value.

So a QB lining up in pistol automatically makes it a spread. It’s not 2010. Bama QBs have lined up there since then. Have they been running a spread this whole time.

EDIT: Every report on Tua has Mel Kipers rating of 3rd overall for Tua. So what is this 12 mess people are talking about?
