Never forget we traded up to passed on A.J Brown and D.K Metcalf in the second.

One thing I fault the Panthers whole scouting department on and Hurney has to carry this burden is they don't look at extremely good players on subpar teams unless they blow up at the combine or are from NC or the Charlotte area.  Metcalf was extremely good at Ole Miss and had to go against some of the best CBs in the nation all season.

I do worry Hurney has sold Tepper fool's gold with "his drafting success."

If we would have drafted AJ or DK they would have had 300 yards and 2 TDs. You would have then made a thread about how he passed on 'insert different player names'.

No I was in D.K camp before the draft. Going back. Forcing a bad pick at a position of need doesn't men it's the right pick. I whole heartedly agree tackle was a greater need but you dont force a fit that isnt there. We have needed a tackle since gross retired and haven't forced it. Why now?

Actually, if you visited the off-season draft threads we were pretty unanimous in loving Burns and not liking Little (or the trade up). Guys we liked a lot better at OL: McCoy (my favorite now the Saints C for the next 10 years, ranked as the 4th overall C in the entire NFL), Elgton Jenkins (PFF all rookie as G and top 10 LG in NFL) and Risner (made PFF’s all rookie team as a G). Even Jawann Taylor was a PFF all rookie as a tackle and he was selected 35th. Pick 77 was enough value to get us to 31 but we only got to 37. All of those guys were guys we said we wanted over Little. Everyone of them was better and would have made our OL better for years.

Wouldn’t it be nice to have Ryan Kalil part two instead of the Saints having him and still have been able to use pick 77? We got Greg Little and Grier with 47, 77 and 100. If we wanted to trade up we could have had McCoy and our pick of Adderley, Rapp and Thornhill at S or McCoy and Metcalf or any number of better players.

The reason I want to bang my head against the wall after every draft.  I'm not saying my final mocks are remotely perfect, but dang, they are better than what we actually end up doing.

Little was going to be the choice in Round One if Burns hadn't fallen.

Imagine that.

Every time if if if. Did it happen? No.

The Packers would have taken someone else if Rodgers didn’t fall... Could do this for every pick.

WR wasn’t really a need coming into this season. Thread should be about why we traded up for Little and not Cody Ford.

Now, if you want to talk Brown and Metcalf. You could argue how dumb of a scout Hurney is. Apparently Hurney did so much work on Greg Little and never saw the talents of Brown and Metcalf. Both of whom played on the same offense Greg Little did. You always hear stories about a scout, GM or coach that found a gem by looking at another player who played on the same team (offense or defense).
