Saints crying foul

Agree. I watched it several times and while the outstretched hand allowed him to maintain some distance from the defender who was also grabbing at him it didn't create separation by shoving him backwards. So it wasn't that obvious.

One criteria of offensive PI is using a fully extended arm.  While that was the case, the DB had hold of his arm nearly the whole route and Rudolph countered with using a hand of his own.  Again, way too tight of a call in the playoffs.  If the refs would have called offensive PI, Vikings fans would have lost their minds because a case could very well be made for defensive PI.

The ref rightly left the flag in his pocket.

It’s amusing, that’s the most blatant PI in the history of the NFL. In yet, it somehow keeps biting the saints in the ass.

It's also one of the funniest no calls I have ever seen in my entire life.  I suppose the refs were allowing the defender his ground to defend that pass.

The only other possible explanation is that pass was definitely not catchable.  :)

Ya, the WR played to get PI instead of continuing to where the ball was and trying to catch it. Refs basically called BS.

Experienced QB's often throw the ball, knowing the wr can't catch it (in this case he was running outside and came up on the sideline) with the intent of causing a DPI. It's a trick of the trade. Unfortunately for the Saints it was (1) a very bad throw by Brees and (2) the wr turned into the db which isn't allowed either. Brady is very good at doing this.

My wife had some business in Louisiana a few years back.  It was a legal issue.  The entire state is like that.  Louisiana corruption is a lot like Chicago corruption, and just as out in the open but less advertised to the rest of the world.

I'm reminded of an old saying that seems to apply, "if God was going to give the world an enema, this is where He would stick the tube."

To be fair, if I was a Saints fan or this happened to the Panthers, I'd be crying foul too. It was clear Offensive Pass Interference per the rule and the Saints had no option to challenge the call. It should've been reviewed by the NFL. Rudolf is 6'5 playing against a 5'11 corner, there is no need to push off there, conceivably.
