Short was the flashier player but Star's dirty work allowed him to flash. 

Short has three career sacks without Star on the roster.

    Why is this  KK/Star issue? They don’t play the same position. KK was signed a year earlier. We spent almost the same amount on Poe, which is who the choice was over Star. Not KK. 3 different threads on an issue that doesn’t exist.

We shouldn’t have chosen between them. They’re both great,  no matter what trash sites like pff say. Defense started declining when we lost Star and went completely off the wheels this year.

Star is today what he has always been, a big immovable run stuffer in the middle that gets the occasional QB pressure. His purpose has forever been to eat up 1-2 blockers and not move, and open lanes for the Linebackers. he has done nothing but that his entire career,  when your defense knows the offense isnt gonna get any push up the middle because he is there that is a great weapon to have.

Ideally we would have kept both, but we had to choose because of the Colossal mistake that was the Matt Kalil contract, which was David Gettleman's fault.  Hurney pretty much had to choose between the lesser of two evils and he chose wisely in keeping Short.

Exactly, not to mention short even gets doubled, I dont get why hes so underrated around here? We just need a backup so if he gets hurt we dont fall apart but if we can get Brown our dline will be complete.

Our defense wasn't good last year.  We were 25th or 26th in ypc allowed last year.  It wasn't good before Short went out.  Both Rams running backs had their best games of the year against us, when Short was in.  We have major problems on the offensive and defensive lines and both of them need new blood.

Literally this entire post is reactionary lol

Also, plenty of evidence to support that while Star is no where near as sexy if a player, he’s still arguably the better cog for a line because of the attention he demands. I held this opinion long before it was cool
