The NFL just broke the rules because of a bonehead. Bills totally should have challenged that. Waving off has no baring on the refs. They even through a flag on the player that came back on the field and it wasn’t even mentioned. The rule is you have to down the ball. Throwing it out there is a live ball.

I don't know the rule's language, but it was clear that the returner was giving himself up and not returning the ball.  If taking a knee is not explicitly required I would imagine what he did was fine.

He clearly did. And tons of returners do that. I want the bills to win but that was total bullshit

I've seen plenty or returners not complete an action of taking a knee for sure.  Some kind of make a slight movement down etc to give themselves up.

It is. It’s why you always see return guys take that lazy knee.
