So, I am genuinely curious as to how these conversations play out with Redskin executives and ownershiop.  A newly hired coach that just left a train wreck of a team brings over numerous coaches and personnel from said disaster.  How does he absolve them of any responsibility for the dumpster fire they just left?  Who is Ron blaming for the current state of the team that just fired him?

It's honestly not easy to build a coaching staff in the NFL.

Unless you can find somebody good whose contract is up, your hiring pool tends to come from the staffs of coaches that have recently been fired.

Rivera's situation is kind of unique in that it's his own fired staff.

Because people who are content with mediocrity and aren’t scared of losing their jobs and being replaced by someone better are following him?

Some teams take steps towards winning and mediocrity with a couple winning seasons is probably very appealing to teams like the Redskins at this point and is the first step.

Good for them but we should aim higher and bigger than that and our recent past.

Unless this was a sarcastic and post for Rivera helping rid us of this stank in which case cheers.

not sarcastic at all.  i suddenly feel really good about rivera for taking the trash on his way out.

Welp, addition by subtraction.  I almost feel like RV's tenure was mostly extended way further than it should've been due to JR's family culture where incumbency and familiarity is favored over production and merit.  Boy, did he horrifically mismanage injuries and prematurely end a lot of careers in his time here.

And as far as Matsko, he's got a lot more wash outs on his watch than developed prospects.
