Ron was atrocious at clock management why did tepper hire sam mills lll to help ron with clock management! Ron got an F in first grade on reading the clock and telling time!

Tepper didn't. Rivera did.

What Tepper did was suggest Rivera hire a game management coach. Rivera said Mills was already doing that job anyway so he just gave him an official title.

(pretty much a typical Rivera move)

Rivera confirmed that Mills actually had those duties for a few years before he was officially given the title.

I'm far from a fan of Rivera, but it is fair to point out those clock management issues did suddenly disappear once Newton was no longer under center.

That doesn't make Newton a bad quarterback or anything but it does make it kind of hard to blame Rivera for the game management problems.

Actually the clock management problem never went away for Rivera. The playcalling issue got better with Norv even with Cam. Shula was the issue with getting calls out on time. Rivera however never improved his management of the clock or situational awareness.

If you look back over the 2018 season, you'll find plenty of people saying the problem must have been Rivera instead of Shula because it didn't go away after Shula was fired.

I didn't say it went away. I said it got better. Which means yes Shula was a problem, but Rivera is still here. So of course there's still going to be some problems getting plays out in time and such.

Problem is this staff didn't know how to properly manage Cam. He could do so many things, they didn't know what to do and when to do it in a proper time frame. Some people can look at the other 2 QBs come in and the play call time getting better and say "ohh the problem was Cam!". But people that actually use their brain can realize Allen and Greir could never do the things Cam could and the playbook got a lot smaller.

For the most part Rivera wasn’t in the loop when it came to in game offensive play calling. The OC called plays and relayed them to the QB coach who relayed them to the QB.

Cam is a very good quarterback. It's okay to say he's not perfect.

The Ronskins are going to be the second biggest joke in Washington.

praise jeebus.   i suddenly like rivera a lot better

Because people who are content with mediocrity and aren’t scared of losing their jobs and being replaced by someone better are following him?

Some teams take steps towards winning and mediocrity with a couple winning seasons is probably very appealing to teams like the Redskins at this point and is the first step.

Good for them but we should aim higher and bigger than that and our recent past.

Unless this was a sarcastic and post for Rivera helping rid us of this stank in which case cheers.

Rivera's staff so far:

OC: Undecided, incumbent Kevin O'Connell and former Panthers assistant Scott Turner are candidates

QB Coach: former Panthers assistant Scott Turner is also a candidate for this spot
WR Coach: former Panthers assistant Jim Hostler (replaces Ike Hilliard)
OL Coach: former Panthers assistant John Matsko (replaces Bill Callahan)

DC: Jack Del Rio (replaces Greg Manusky)

DL Coach: possibly former Panthers assistant Sam Mills III (would replace Jim Tomsula, also known for being former head coach of the 49ers)

Trainer: Ryan Vermillion

Still unknown: RB Coach, TE Coach, LB Coach, DB Coach, Special Teams Coordinator, Strength and Conditioning Coach

Note: It hasn't been officially stated what Mills' role will be. If he is the DL Coach, then it would seem Eric Washington won't be joining Rivera's Redskins staff.

It’s interesting that he is hiring offensive staff before he hires the OC. He must known who the OC will be. Just hasn’t announced it.

The Redskins are trying to get him to keep O'Connell.

Doesn't sound like they're going to force him to, though.
