Stefanski to interview

I have no doubt McDaniels is a great offensive strategist, and he's right up there with Stefanski in designing innovative schemes.

The question with McDaniels has always been about his leadership skills, and this is where Stefanski has him beat.   People in the Vikings organization rave about what a good leader Stefanski has been.

All those guys flopped.

Not exactly “all” of those guys. Look at Green Bay....

Also, with a hire like this it’s worth noting that McVay just coached one of the most talented teams in the league this year (and who went somewhat all in on this season trading for Ramsey) to a lousy 9-7 record and missed playoffs. I think he was a flash in the pan and it’s all downhill for him from here on. But we’ll see.

I think McVay is a bit overrated myself, but the Super Bowl hangover is a real thing

We went 6-10 the year after we went 15-1, and Cam was 'largely' healthy.

Im also not sure the Rams are as talented as people think.  Jared Goff is proving to be a pretty bad QB, and Gurley's greatness has been greatly diminished by injuries.

How do we know Stefanski has a higher IQ than Bieniemy? Weird comment.

Both seem extremely bright. I'm not sold on Stefanski having sustained success.  I dislike Bienemy hasnt had to do play calling.  Both seem like good leaders.

Stefanski got accepted into an Ivy league school on academic merit

Eric Bieniemy went to the University of Colorado on a football scholarship

You might think these things don't matter, but every hedge fund /private equity guy I've ever known does (and they hire based on it).  It's also not a surprise DePodesta (Harvard graduate) has been banging the table for the Browns to hire Stefanski for 2 years now.

They're both smarter than McCarthy though, who Aaron Rodgers (reportedly referred to as having the lowest IQ of any coach he's ever had).

Having an extremely high IQ and being a good HC in the NFL have little to do with one another.  They aren't being asked to solve a calculus III equation on Sunday's, but to coach players, be a leader and have a solid game plan.  HCs can't be idiots obviously, but they don't have to be the next Albert Einstein either.

We don't know what opportunities they had in high school and as someone has has worked with undergrads at one such institution I can tell you academic merit is not strict indicator of IQ at an ivy league (or any institution lol).  I have no doubt Stefanski is a smart guy, but making the statement is has a higher iq is not only unsubstantiated... it actually has no relevance to his success as a coach.

He may be our coach, but if he is, it won't be solely because he went to an Ivy.

All of which Stefanski has done a great job with

Tepper fired Rivera (who was the ultimate 'culture'/'leader of men' archetype) for not being bright enough.

He's not going to repeat that mistake by picking another guy who doesn't have a innate feel for using analytical processes to arrive at his decisions.  I would suspect McDaniels is his fallback if Stefanski picks the Browns over us (or is elevated to Vikings head coach).

Yeah yeah yeah, go interview at one of the elite financial firms and peddle the 'opportunities' thing, and see how far you get with a mediocre resume.

Ultimately, this is Tepper's decision.

You can find people in the Pats organization who do the same for McDaniels. Its easy to compliment the people you work with publicly.
