Bad example, falcons spent plenty of draft capita on the o line recently, didn’t work. D line has also had some investments(takk,Vic, Grady) .

there season was a disaster because there coach had a dc as a WR coach

Even with top 5 passing yards, they finished 7-9 and that’s why we don’t draft WR at number 7. Not with the current state of our roster.

If the new coaching staff wants to start Little at LT then I think the pick will be Jeudy. I feel fairly certain that once the new coaching staff sees Little blocking with his elbows out and hands on ribs and outside they will poo a brick. Panic will set in when they see Little's terrible technique and they will want to draft a LT. That's not to say that Little can't be taught the muscle memory to block inside at the chest, don't lunge or lean, but who knows how long that will take, or if it will take at all.

So if Jerry Rice was sitting there, you'd pass because it's not a huge position of need?

(1) Tua

(2) Jeudy

(3) Okudah

(4) Brown

(5) Thomas

We completely agree but with 2 and 3 flipped. The caveat is that if Tua's medical update comes back that he is going to make a full recovery and not be hindered, I would pull the trigger on him if he were available at 7. If we still aren't sure on his medical update I would skip him and give Cam and Luke something to help them in what is likely their final year together before their championship window closes. Juedy helps Cam out because this pushes Curtis to the slot where I think he belongs and a young combo of Moore, Juedy, Curtis might be the best young 1-3 in the league. Factor in CMC and the possible addition of Ebron and the truth is as bad as the o-line can be they might not have to block long at all for us to put up points.

On the flip side adding Okudah means no more having every teams #2 abuse Jackson play after play and likely puts him at the nickel corner spot where he belongs. Bradberry would be the #2 and I would trust him there. Brown would give us proper depth up the middle again.

To me drafting Thomas means we are likely looking to the future in terms of protecting our next QB. How often have we seen left tackles drafted in round one lately make an impact in year one? They tend to show up better in year 2 and 3. Oddly, drafting Little last year and Thomas this year might give us our LT and RT of the future barring Little staying healthy with no more head injuries.

To me the team needs to decide, once we pick the coach what do we want to do for our long term success. Do we want to take one last glorious shot at winning a championship right now? Or do we want to get the ball rolling and prepare to win the division as the tides change? Brees will be retiring soon. Matt Ryan is getting old. Winston might not even be on their roster in two years. Cam has injuries piling up. Do we want to get ahead of the process with a QB? If so, trade Cam and Luke now for picks next year and the year after. If you are all in on Cam drafting Tue doesn't help us get better this upcoming season. If you aren't all in on Cam start making room to clear cap and get draft capital and take a strong swing at landing a top QB next year.

If it's me I'm drafting Jeudy to take the pressure of CMC needing to drag us down the field. Jeudy increases the life span of CMC and draws coverage his way, not to mention his fuging sick moves. Dude can turn nothing into a big gain and if he catches the ball in stride he's a home run threat. Adding him with DJ, Olsen, and Samuel means Cam can throw to anyone on the field and expect good results. We can look for a LT with our high second round pick.

Here is the issue with taking Juedy at 7:

  • Jerry Juedy
  • Laviska Shenault
  • CeeDee Lamb
  • Henry Ruggs
  • Tee Higgins
  • Justin Jefferson
  • DeVonta Smith
  • Tyler Johnson
  • Collin Johnson
  • Bryan Edwards

Point is there is a lot of talent at WR both this year and next that can be had in the later rounds. Juedy and Lamb are slam dunk first rounders but the rest offer high potential and can be had in rounds 2-4.

I think he's a tremendous athlete and arguably the most talented skill player in this years draft. My counterpoint: the top 5 teams with the best WR1 & WR2 yards are not in the playoffs.

To illustrate what I was saying earlier about the 2nd and 3rd round being a sweet spot for WRs:

Godwin 3rd

Gallup 3rd

Landry 2nd

Cupp 3rd

Allen 3rd

Thomas 2nd

Lockett 3rd

Brown 3rd

chalk 2nd

Diggs 5th

woods 2nd

and I was too lazy to go through all of them

WRs are dependent on the system they play in and the QB throwing to them.

I would be hesitant to spend a top 10 pick on one unless they are truly elite.  With that being said some people are saying Juedy is the best WR prospect since Jones and Green.

Personally I think there are bout 5 elite non QBs in this draft:

Young (in his own tier), Brown, Juedy, Okudah, Simmons (probably the least need of the bunch), Thomas (maybe)

I agree too but I can see at least 5-6 receivers going in the 1st round. There are plenty of teams in need of wr help. In the WR class in this draft really leads all other positions. I really don’t like the depth of this draft across the board. I think it’s a really bad draft. It’s one of those drafts that I can see it being a terrible draft class for us and many other teams 3 years down the road. We really need to nail the 1st round.
