Cams IG post...

Obviously Rhule isn’t going to have an opinion on his QB situation yet because it all hinges on Cam’s health. Jfc. Cam isn’t getting butt hurt about anything and Rhule isn’t looking to replace Cam. These are decisions for the future. Cam posts these random things all the time. 99% likely unrelated

He might not have made a decision, but it is pretty clear this is a rebuild situation and he made it clear this is not a overnight thing. He said Trust The Process.

I don't see how people think a 30 year old QB with serious health concerns is something we can build around. I honestly think they will try to work with Cam on a trade that best fits his timeline.

All I got from the PC is this is a long term vision. Rhule even said "I don't believe in the short term route".

You would think if Cam was 100% coming back he would have made it clear. He didn't, that's concerning.

If I were an outsider, I'd think that the Panthers are going to play it cool and never answer questions about Cam, at least not yet.  Then they will just see what the others in the league do.  Will some start making offers because there is a chance we trade him?  It is good business sense not to play our cards too early, especially if your business is the NFL, you are in a major rebuild and the draft and FA are a couple months out.

Cam isn’t 100% coming back. Nothing is 100% UNTIL HIS HEALTH IS CLEAR. if Cam is healthy, he’s our QB. If he’s not, he probably won’t be. None of that thinking long term stuff has anything to do with Cam.

And Cam doesn’t have serious health concerns. He had a lisfranc injury. Either it heals or it doesn’t. The shoulder isn’t even a thing any more.  His body isn’t breaking down, he had two unrelated injuries, they don’t even impact each other.  This isn’t concussions or chronic joint issues or even a mcl/acl type thing.

We’ll know more down the road before the season, and Rhule is included in that “we”. Then he’ll begin the decision making process. Not now.

In negotiating the first person who names a figure loses. In this situation there is zero upside to publicly announcing your intentions with Cam. It gains you literally nothing unless you count placating certain huddlers demanding to be kept in the loop. Playing things close to the vest however may help you get a better sense of the market by gauging teams level of interest more accurately. It may buy you time to reach an agreement with Cam regarding next season.

Everyone seems to have been blown away by Rhule’s introductory presser. Has anyone stopped to think yet about the possibility it helped moved the needle on Cam’s willingness to come back next year even without an extension if that is/was his sticking point?

Rhule sold Tepper and Marty on not letting him out of their sight. He sold @mjligon and others who were not keen on him as the hire with about 15 mins at a podium. I wonder what sort of impact his charisma is having on Cam right now...

Chicken or the egg.  Cams health as you say is the big issue.  But, if he turns out healthy, do we get a kings ransom which will help in a rebuild? Or, do we sign him to a new deal and hope he stays healthy?  An unhealthy Cam makes neither situation work

If he's healthy...

People keep saying this, he will be healthy. Unless he has a botched surgery why is there reason to believe he wont be healthy?

Cam has done enough for this franchise to get a blessing from his new HC. Why does he have to wait when everybody knows Cam is our best QB on the roster.

Nobody knows, all we can do is speculate for right now. But as of now I don't think he fits into the long term vision that Rhule has for the team.

Lord knows I want that to be true as much as anyone, but recovering from the lisfranc injury isn’t guaranteed.  Everyone is taking a wait and see approach, and that’s wise. I expect Cam to recover and be out QB for the next 5+ years but it’s not a certainty.

If Cam is healthy, he’s our QB. You don’t trade a QB like that for anything.  If he can get through the year playing 16+ games, he gets a new deal cuz he’s proved he can stay healthy. If he can’t, he wouldn’t get much in a trade anyway.

Because he hasn't been healthy in 4 years...

And he’s on the wrong side of 30 as the most prolific running qb in league history who has taken more uncalled illegal hits than any other qb to that point in their career. There is amp,e evidence to doubt why he might not be able to stay healthy.
