Tepper Continuing To Prove He Doesn't Know What He's Doing

For someone that wants analytics so bad, he certainly isn't following any trends. The way things are looking in the league during coaching searches are for coaches to be hired first, then they find their GM. It's clear Hurney and Ron had different ideas, but it seems we are going the traditional approach of wanting a coach handpicked by the GM. I'm glad the Bienemy interview went well, as this is who I want. Instead, we fired our coach to get an early head start and it seems we've gotten nowhere. McCarthy on that tweet basically scoffed at coming here and you have to wonder if Hurney is scaring these guys off with his bullshit philosophies of drafting a kicker in the first round or a hybrid WR/QB. McCarthy also had two interviews. We technically did get a head start, but we aren't ahead of the curve. The guys we have been eyeballing aren't even considering us according to rumors out there. Just because Tepper has the most money means he can overpay for someone else's trash. I think Bienemy fits the perfect blend of NFL and college coach. Hopefully they're not looking for Yes men otherwise we end up with Garrett. We should have a better idea after wild card weekend with some of the coaches becoming available. But if we end up in a bidding war for McDaniels or some other trash from another team, this organization will continue to spiral downward. Both of these guys will be the problem.

Wanna know who knows more than the richest owner in the league? Read RumHam's Wall of Text to find out!

Didn't know financial standing dictated intelligence. Tell me how that's worked out for Jerry and Al Davis?

One problem that affects this whole country is too many people think rich people are the smartest and always know what they’re doing.

Many so believe this, but I know many very wealthy people that have no clue about a lot of things. Sadly Tepper has never run a sports franchise and I’m not convinced he will ever be good at it.  Keeping Hurney is the first real sign that he is confused.

    • I forgot about Jackson...definitely elite.  The sad part of your list is that 2 of them were 'there for the taking for the Panthers'.  Rumor has it that Hurney loved Herbert and was vetoed on trying to trade up.  And rumor has it that Frank & McCown wanted Stroud.  I believe both rumors.
    • I went on a solo elk hunt in the Flat Tops. It was awesomely miserable. LOL It was a late season hunt, I think third season and it was forecasted to snap off cold with highs in the upper thirties and lows in the single digits. fug it, I'm going anyway. They were wrong. The highs were in the low 20s and the lows were in the negative teens. I shivered so hard the first night I thought my teeth were going to break. It was the only time I've ever been legit concerned that I might be in trouble. Crawled out of my sleeping bag and got a fire started and suffered through the night bundled up next to the fire. I slept the next two nights literally wearing every stitch of clothing I'd brought with Nalgenes full of near boiling water in the bottom of my sleeping bag. That was the only way to have non-frozen water in the morning anyway. There was about a foot of snow on the ground and the melt/freeze crust was almost enough to support your weight but you'd go crashing through just as you went or make your step. It was exhausting travel and every step sounded like a rifle shot. Hunting was basically impossible. I never saw an elk in those four days, only saw 5-6 deer. LOL It was brutal but I loved it. Absolutely beautiful country that is never been to before and haven't been back since. I needed that four day complete break from society fighting for my life against the elements. I'm weird like that.
    • The lack of production is especially surprising given how much effort the team put into coaxing the best from him.  In just six short years he’s had the opportunity to work with 3 different GMs, 7 different head coaches and 10 different starting quarterbacks.  There’s literally no excuse to be made that one of those combos didn’t work.  It might be time to look withIAN.
