McDaniels: It’s between Cleveland and Carolina

I think McD liking Mayfield that much is a red flag in and of itself. He’s a tool and was exposed as such this season. If that’s the guy McD thinks is a leader then we’re already done. Cam can be loud and flamboyant but he doesn’t disrespect anyone and he backs it up by being a stud.

Baker is better than anything we currently have on our roster, they had big issues on that mess of team this year, i'm sure most coaches think they can fix it.    Until Cam shows he can be healthy, we are in QB hell, everyone can be as optimistic as they want, the guy has missed huge chunks of games the last two seasons now.  I hope hes healthy and can return, i see the Panthers giving it one more go with him, which coincides with the end of his contract anyway so makes total sense to have him prove it, but i can see why a coach would choose a more talented cleveland roster over us (even with the terrible ownership).

With regards to McDaniels, i have a hard time buying that Josh is going to come here to work under Marty fn Hurney.  That is not gonna happen.  Unless he gets assurances that Hurney is being reallocated there is zero chance he comes here,  I'm not saying McDaniels wants full control but hes not going to take a job under Marty Hurney, he will want his GM pick. So a McDaniels signing would excite me for the fact that Hurney is likely on the outs alone.   The head coach GM combo is all the rage now, why would ours be any different.  Now Bienemy and McCarthy are desperate they will work under anyone just to get a gig.

From the Browns' message board:

Post is regarding a buddy of his in the Green Bay area...

Who knows a couple beat reporters and is friends with several of Elliot Wolf’s seems to think the McCarthy/Wolf combo is likely.

That said, he is unaware of our full scope of dysfunction and his only contact is MKC and Grossi Twitter beside his GB contacts.

Take it for what it’s worth... Very little.

But, my hope was that the Wolf/McCarthy coupling is the most stable least sexy pairing and thought maybe Wolf’s friends would know the Haslams love sizzle.

And then there's this:

Of course, it could all be a bunch of BS, but I am starting to see a lot of McDaniels to the Browns in the last day or so. McDaniels also said he's "eager" to work with Baker Mayfield. As a McDaniels fan, this is worrisome. All rumors for now.

The only thing about NE wanting McDaniels to stay is that he's supposedly already putting together his staff. He's going to look real indecisive if he backs out again. Could hurt him for future gigs and getting people to come work for him.

if hiring mcd would spell the end of hurney here, and the enemy wouldn't, it would change my preference to mcd for our coach.   we can hire a new coach in a couple years if he flames out.  sometimes it takes a thorn to remove another thorn. right now the biggest obstacle in our path to success is hurney imho
