Of the potential coaches mentioned McDaniels seems the most likely to move on from Cam Newton as QB. I don't want him if that's the case.

Idk. I feel the opposite for whatever reason. I feel like Cam was beloved in NE (at least by Belichek) and that could have trickled down to McDaniels.

McDaniels was the OC in StLouis in 2011 before returning to the Patriots:

The Rams' offense was among the worst in the league in 2011. They scored only 193 points (12.1 points per game), last in the league, and 11th-fewest all-time.

To his defense, his QBs were a combination of Sam Bradford, Kellen Clemens, and AJ Feeley.

His Receivers were Brandon Lloyd and Danario Alexander.

The best player on offense was a Declining Steven Jackson.

That offense was not built for success.

Same.  I think he’s exactly what we need.  Ruthless, win anyway you can kind of a guy.

Agreed. I like being the "nice" franchise filled with a bunch of nice players who everyone in the NFL likes but I enjoy shitstomping the Saints and the Falcons twice a year even more. If we need to get meaner, and our players need to have less fun to do so then so be it. The best franchises in the NFL are ruthless and put winning far above anything else.

While I have not been big on McDaniels, when it comes to redefining the franchise and being here for the long term, the idea of him and a Pats front office guy gives me more confidence.  Though I don't know who might be the guy to couple with Bieniemy or the others. It doesn't mean there isn't that guy out there.

The problem is that the "Pats guys" are not working out at an alarming rate.  What I don't like about the Pats model is how disloyal and non-player friendly they are.  I feel like the Eagles have a better model for today's NFL, for most teams who can't just flash 2 handfuls of rings in your face and tell you to shut the hell up and trust the process.

That was before Cleveland announced their new reporting structure today.

Analysts to examined it say it's not necessarily "McDaniels friendly".

Interesting, because I pictured it the exact opposite.  The coach is going to be hired first, then will help find his own GM.  That's a ton of power right there.  Then with what went down with Dorsey, I'm going to assume part of the disconnect between him and the organization was the team taking power away from the GM and giving it to the next HC.  Am I missing some key information?
