The case for LT with pick 7

If anyone who has been watching the Panthers since Gross retired still needs a case made out to them for drafting a LT at #7 then I don't know what else to tell them.

I'm not saying to definitely draft one there, it depends on what the board looks like when we're on the clock, but the possibility should abso-fuging-lutely be on the table.

We need one, but I do not think Little was given a fair chance---he is raw, and he struggled when in--does that mean we are going to discard him?  Move him inside?  Yes, we need a LT, and (hate to say it..) is he on the roster?  I have seen some good LTs struggle as rookies.  Armstead in New Orleans was terrible as a rookie---just an example.  Having said all that, you take Thomas at #7 if he is there. Move Little somewhere.

2nd round picks of a previous regime who haven't shown much generally don't get much protection. I'm honestly not interested in giving chances. I want to field the best players I can field.

So, no. Honestly, I'm not passing on a guy who I think is a franchise LT because Greg Little is on the roster. Bring in the elite prospect and figure out what else to do with Little. Maybe he can go inside to OG. Maybe he's a backup swing tackle. I don't really care.

Yes, but not a LT hog molly.

I don't think Wirfs or Thomas will be there---you probably have to take Thomas---No brainer, even if you had a LT.  You probably should take Wirfs.  Then you start thinking about Little and wondering what it would be like to have Okudah or Jeudy....that is like choosing vegetables over cake.  You know what is best for you, but...

We either need the best OT in the draft, or the best 3-4 DE (if that's where we land). Then, we need a G/C who can start at G and take over for Paradis within a year if he continues to suck next season. Then the biggest NT we can find in round 3.

Stop making sense!  You know Hurney is still the GM though, right?

Epenesa looks legit.  For reals.

Well you have to give someone a chance if you bail on Little.  What about CB?  Jackson was second rounder who hasn't shown much.  What about WR?  Samuels is a second rounder who hasn't shown much.  I just know a second rounder needs time to develop. If we draft another T I would be OK, but we leave some other spots open.  Do we feel better about the #2 WR than Little at LT?  Do we feel better about Jackson at CB?  I think C was more of a problem than people seem to be realizing--when  the interior breaks down, everything tends to break down.

I see your point--I wish we knew more about Little before giving up on him.

I think he might be a Solomon Thomas type though. Lots of power, lots of motor, not a ton of explosion. Thomas is a solid part of that very good SF DL, but he doesn't really make any splash plays. If he's there in the 2nd? Hell yeah. At #7? Definitely not sold on that. I think the Combine is going to be important for him and his draft status.
