Of the 4 candidates, I think only Eric Bieniemy will manage to command the respect Rivera had in the locker room

I agree, but to some degree they are all busily engaged by stupidly posting all their young dumb stuff to the internet for the entire world to see and look up for eternity. That seems smart. I'm sure it will end well for them.

Oh yeah, I am not saying they don't deserve some of the blame for being part of the invasion of their own privacy. But, you also have to kind of look at the adults on that one. We are the ones who invented those platforms, targeted to those demographics, exposed to them at an early enough age that they simply were not given a proper perspective about having privacy. It's not just young people who suffer from that. We are all being pretty duped into thinking we have any real privacy in the modern age. It's not conspiracy theory, it's just the way things are progressing. If I get to be an old man at some point, it will be interesting to see how this all plays out.

I avoid social media like the plague for pretty much the reasons you stated, but then I'm a little extreme. Even as a teenager, I almost refused to date girls at my own high school because I didn't want my social life being other people's gossip. Privacy is largely a myth these days and you are right that it's on those of us who are adults who have built these privacy invading platforms. Sadly your best defense against this invasion is to lead a life no one wants to oggle.

Bien has too problematic of a past with women to be hired in the MeToo era, especially with a politically progressive owner like Tepper

doesn't seem his incidents have occurred in the last basically 2 decades or have anything to do with women... can't really fault a RB coach for the conduct of players at a university IMO, at least not without evidence of wrongdoing.

Well he harassed and assaulted a woman leading him to be banned from campus

I don't care and don't think its a big deal, but we live in a sensitive era of history

Many people have been 'canceled' for less

I mean if Tepper wanted a guy who could win a room and command respect, he would have just kept Rivera, who does this better than anyone.

Is there anything suggestive of Bieniemy being familiar with analytics?

I don't believe there is

The interview someone referenced form the The Athletic said Bieniemy used analytics to game plan for the week

Almost 30 years ago he apparently harassed a parking attendant.  There is no evidence that this is a pattern of abusing women or, well, anyone for that matter - if anything, this could be a case of someone actually getting their poo together as they get older.

Not one of those things matter in 2020 except (potentially) the issue with the parking attendant. If I was looking to hire Bieniemy, I would want more information as to what happened there, but I would be shocked if it rose to the level of not hiring him.

And the organization will be doing thorough background checks on people. This was just a ham handed attempt to discredit a candidate for who knows what reason. The article was even worse.

I think as a candidate for  high profile job you have an explanation and discussion about how you've grown based on anything significant, and I would bet he has one for the parking attendant ando ther various alcohol-related issues in his past.

    • Oh he would absolutely flourish. It’s the panthers way. It’s no different with coaches. Sometimes they reach their expiration date, go somewhere else, and find new success.  Similarly to Burns, how long to wait for the light to finally turn on?  Market forces will demand a salary that the panthers can not responsibly match. Sliding him to guard will fit his skill set better, but he has played LT for 3 years. He will receive offers from other teams wanting to pay him LT money.  At guard, he won’t start with what they have paid Hunt and Lewis. Center then?? Dunno. Maybe? He will become a backup by default once they draft their stud LT. I doubt Dan just stands pat. That’s not his MO.  So where does this put him? Can you match what other teams will offer for a backup LT/guard? Do you dish out franchise LT $ on a guy who still needs significant improvement in pass protection. This team will be DOA in the playoffs with the very first team who has a formidable speed rusher. What if he has hit his ceiling in pass protection already and they sign him long term? It’s a big gamble either way.
    • We're in a great position to see just how big of a misstep it would be, having made so many ourselves
    • I didn't say I would have done it. I was just saying that I can see why some in the FO considered it. Everything was done to give Bryce weapons. Solidify the interior line thru FA. Get XL at WR in round 1 and then get the most talented RB in round 2. Take a TE in round 4, etc They were probably "assuming" he'd make a complete recovery during the 2024 season. I'm a skeptical person. I wouldn't have assumed he'd be ok in 2024. I personally would have taken another position in the 2nd for that very reason. But, if I were "influenced" to take him I would've argued to keep him off the field, especially seeing how things were going for us record wise. Conventional Wisdom says most backs don't get back to normal until two years after the ACL surgery. He was injured in Fall 2023. Having him suit up in 2025 would have been almost 2 years since the original injury. You have him for 3 year on low contract. If he balls out, you resign him for a couple of more years b/c he'd only have 3 years of tread on the tires. If he's ok but not great you let him walk.
